jury duty

crazyfists28 - 4-17-2007 at 06:10 PM

had to go for a second term in my 26 years on earth. i hate going but got picked to sit on a jury again. another 3 or 4 day trial. anyone have an opinion on being forced to sit on a jury? they call it a civic duty but if you have no interest being there, shouldn't you be allowed to not attend? good thing is work pays for days missed, bad thing is its 9 to 5 everyday. not my type of schedule. i start early to get done early...

I wasn't a fan, it was interesting...but it was a one day deal luckily since my job doesn't pay. hopefully I don't get called again anytine soon.

Ive only gone twice (in 33 years on earth), but I loved it! Its paid days out of work! I just wish I had gotten picked to be on a case!

I've been called once, about 5 or 6 years ago.

never called, don't know if active duty military is exempt or what?

im on a good case, its a weird drug scenario. they found four kilos of cocain in the hollowed out bottom of a car at a guys house and the prosecution has to try to show that this is the responsibility of the defendant even though there were two other people living there and the car isnt registered to him. its gonna get interesting. today was all the bullshit surrounding how they raided the place and making it known that it was in fact legit cocaine. my other jury service was for a stupid traffic accident so this should be way better. and its true, its nice getting paid by work and also getting to do something unique....

I got an exemption when I got called this year to go on my son's birthday... I just said I can't do it.. I'm the sole bread-winner in my house and that would lose us almost 200 bucks.
