Jim Lindberg of Pennywise will soon be releasing his memoir on parenting, Punk Rock Dad. Originally announced in December of 2005, the book follows the Pennywise singer as he raises his three daughters:

While other dads dye their hair to cover the gray, Jim occasionally dyes his blue or green. He makes his daughters' lunches, kisses their boo-boos, and tucks them in at night--and then goes into the garage and plays Black Flag and Minor Threat songs at criminal volume. He pays his taxes, votes in all the presidential and gubernatorial elections, serves on jury duty, and reserves the right to believe that there is a vast Right Wing Conspiracy--and that the head of the P.T.A is possibly in on it

Through his book published by Harper Collins, Jim details his hilarious experiences as a punk rocker and a respected father of three little girls with stories that will literally have you laughing out loud. Nothing is sacred in "Punk Rock Dad" as Jim lays out everything from tour, partying and crazed fans to the skills it takes to change a diaper and of course his unique take on childhood stories like Cinderella with great quotes such as "well, she was on crack" referring to his answer for why Cinderella couldn't buy a dress for the ball.

The book is being published by HarperCollins and is due out May 1st. The book can be pre-ordered via Amazon or befriended using anthropomorphism and myspace..

I may jsut have to pick this one up....

my sone goes to private montossori school here with the "uppercrust" of our area, they love the pto meetings that we attend... and they really love the fact that we are more active in our kids lives and the school then those people who look down their noses at us....

fuck you and your too good for anyone else attitude

Sounds cool.
HA! I'm the only weirdo coaching in my kids baseball league. Plus I'm 15 years younger than most of the other parents there.
Fuck snotty parents. Seriously.
I've had assholes try and make me feel dumb or inadaquate (SP) over the years.
I manage to shut them up.

serious or sarcasm? i'm tired and can't tell.
are they genuinely into the fact that you're into your kid and his schooling, or do they give you a hard time?

seriously, though, i'd imagine there's little in life more gratifying than making someone who's trying to make you look like a bad parent look like a bad person.

this part is rad.
a buddy of mine who is 33 has a 15y/o son. it's cool and weird at the same time. it's easy for him to be a friend to his son cause they're closer in age than most parents/children and they actually have a lot in common, but it can be tough for him sometimes when it's time to step back and be a parent.

clevohardcore - 4-20-2007 at 10:33 AM

I will get this book.

yup. I'm in that boat for sure.
I'm 32 and my son is 10. it's cool because I still remember what it was like to be a kid, but sometimes I hve to correct him for stuff that honestly, i just find funny as hell..

I'm in the same boat. I chaperone and chauffeur their field trips and I'm waiting for one of the parents to ask who the big, tattoed skinhead is. I'll have a carload of little girls bombing around with The Toy Dolls (who I'm convinced are a children's band) cranked. I take the same attitude as you Steve, I'm here, you are not so fuck off.

defstarsteve - 4-20-2007 at 10:48 AM

no they hate us...
we make more money then they do, have kids that are more well behaved and way smater, and way fucking cooler....
fuck yuppies

i'm 33 and have an 11 year old daughter...
she is so rad, teaching her to play guitar, her favorite films are anything horror, esp zombie films and the idiots at the public school here just finally got to testing her for the gifted program, (after 2 years of bitching at them, she was home schooled by me and heather up till last year when she made the choice to go to public school).

her iq was 138 and her test scores were on average of that of the 99th percentile tile of 12th graders in the u.s. she is in 6th grade.... so she could be placed in ap courses in the 12th grade ight now and hold her own....

again fuck yuppies looking at us with all of our tattoos ratty clothing, and piercings and thinking that we aint shit.....

upyerbum - 4-20-2007 at 10:51 AM

It drives em fucking crazy that my daugthter attends THEIR school, which makes me happy.

BDx13 - 4-20-2007 at 10:51 AM

but are you guys actually catching attitude on a regular basis, or do you just assume that these other parents think less of you cause they don't have a look similar to yours? i'm not trying to be a dick and say it's in your head; i'm just trying to get get a sense of how regularly this happens.

upyerbum - 4-20-2007 at 10:52 AM

The administration is cool, but I'm forking out dough to them, I get the once over alot, and a lot of nervous smiles. I'm sure some of them think I'm the janitor. Most of them are friendly, but you can tell it just doesn't compute in their tiny brains.

CR83 - 4-20-2007 at 11:07 AM

We have it on a different level. My daughter (who's 2) goes to the YMCA for Day Care. They are awesome. Our Y has a pool. There are some new teachers this year. They see me pick up my daughter in a suit and tie most of the time. Then they will see me at the pool with tattoos and just not believe it. Perception is everything.

Def-Star- That is such and awesome success storya bout your daughter. Great job!

defstarsteve - 4-20-2007 at 11:08 AM

we had an open house thing 2 weeks ago, where our son who is 3 is suppposed to be our teacher and show us what he does all day long.

all of the parents of all the students were there.

heather and I got right down to his level sat on the floor and he showed us what activites he does, his favorite games and books jsut like it was supposed to be done.

no one else was down doing that and they were all looking at us like we were insane, they were in little groups of 5 or so and just gossiping while the kids did their own thing. I don't know if it is because it's our first year with the school and their kids have been their longer or what, but they didn't seem interested in what their kids were doing.

we just don't move in those social circles and we don't want to that's for damn sure

but the point of

defstarsteve - 4-20-2007 at 11:10 AM

we need to open a punk rock day care and school for the gifted..

gavin - 4-20-2007 at 11:22 AM

you are also in a more culturally diverse area then I am
we live in a small town outside of pittsburgh where the only tattooed people are drug dealers and gang members...

just small town social b.s., and I don't care what these idiots think of me as long as my kids are treated fairly in their schools we wont have a problem....

I think thiught it may have taken them 2 years to test my daughter becasue of the prejudice against us...
but who cares, she is good to go know and we are thinking of homeschooling again... she is jsut not challenged and whe wants the freedom of learning what she has intrest in, just not the same old shit...

YES!

Dude's, you ever see this children's book called "Punk Farm"??? It's pretty cool, bunch of barnyard animals in a punk band at night while the farmer's sleeping and they do a punked out version of Old MacDonald. I have alot of fun reading that one to Shay, so does he. Apparently the guy that wrote it has a recording of the song but my wife says I do it better. Probably faster.
