-----
The long-awaited reissue of Operation Ivy's legendary discography CD Energy has apparently been pushed back to July 10, 2007.
As originally reported, the disc will be released via the Epitaph-distributed Rancid Records. The album is remastered and repackaged in a digipak.
The album was last released via Lookout! Records, but pulled from the label after a series of financial problems.

Damn I had OG presses of the first 12" EP and Absence. These are the times I wish I hadn't sold all my vinyl back in '94. If I had held onto what I
had I would be sitting very pretty.newbreedbrian - 5-1-2007 at 02:17 PM
got the original. didn't realize it was out of print, nor that the new generation gave a shit about themXHonusWagnerX - 5-1-2007 at 02:50 PM

I just listened to Operation Ivy yesterday. I like them alot. Im not sure I'll buy the reissue though. Maybe if someone here buys it they can
report back to the board on how it sounds? If there isnt a huge improvement then why bother buying it?BDx13 - 5-1-2007 at 04:10 PM
i was a pretty hyper kid, so this cd was perfect for me. runnin' around like an ass bouncin' off shit constantly.DaveMoral - 5-1-2007 at 04:36 PM
I loved it, still have the disc.tireironsaint - 5-1-2007 at 06:16 PM
Op Ivy is great...
if you're in high school.
Honestly, this band is the epitome of kiddy punk. Good starter stuff, bouncy and harmless, but it's the musical equivalent of cotton candy. Lots of
fluff, no nutrional value.Discipline - 5-1-2007 at 07:36 PM
I bought the Lookout release about 11-12 years ago after hearing about how great the band was. I didn't like it at all. I gave it to one of my
roommates, as it was more of his style of listening than mine.newbreedbrian - 5-1-2007 at 10:59 PM

true. i remember when the first rancid album came out. it was like "cool, the guys from op ivy have a new band". now i guess it's "dude, the guys from
rancid used to be in this old band". i still have a soft spot for them and i remember the first time i heard them in a skate video (can't remember
which one? anyone? circa '90). took me awhile to get the album and i fucking wore it out for a couple years straight. crazy they broke up right at the
height of their popularity.MikeCore - 5-2-2007 at 12:55 AM
I had OG presses of the Op Ivy 7' and LP. Damn, damn, damn. The wife bought the CD back in the early mid 90's so I never had to buy it and I doubt I
will buy the re-issue but I will probably obtain it one way or another.BKT - 5-2-2007 at 12:37 PM

The skate video you heard it in was the last video that H-Street put out before they were bought and became Plan B and the song was playing during
Matt Hesleys part. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of that video.
That was also the first time I heard them. I am pretty sure it was the song "Knowledge".
MM.newbreedbrian - 5-2-2007 at 12:48 PM
that would be right, matt hensley for sure. better memory than i got these days.JawnDiablo - 5-2-2007 at 12:55 PM
I still like the first 3 Rancid cds.
I only heard a few songs after 97 or so, but i liked them too.MikeCore - 5-2-2007 at 01:26 PM

Those are, bar none, the best Rancid albums. That last one was pretty good too, but I still think the first self-titled is the best. Before Lars.BKT - 5-3-2007 at 04:11 PM
Man that video brought back some memories for sure.
As far as Rancid. Huge fan of all their stuff as well as all their side projects.

man, i used to rule at ollie one-foots.
probably my favorite trick.
not too hard, and the look cool as hell.
used to totally stall them out forever, then bring the front foot back at the last minute.MikeCore - 5-3-2007 at 10:57 PM

The height of skating ability was doing huge ollie shove-it one foots off the ledges at Love Park. Good Times
