gavin - 6-18-2007 at 09:27 AM

had been asking and asking to dye his hair blue
who knows why
i asked him and he said "cuz its cool"

i dyed it yesterday and it is indeed cool

panzerkreuzer - 6-18-2007 at 09:34 AM

as long as he wants no eyeliner everything is fine.;)
i had blue hairs with 14, he?s really early.cool.

gavin - 6-18-2007 at 09:40 AM

its not so much a "punk rock" thing with him
he really just thinks having blue hair is "cool"

i said to him......"what are ya gonna do if your friends make fun of you? what are you gonna say to them"
he said "im going to tell them that it dosent matter what they think and that i like it and thats all that matters"
i said "good boy buddy. you make me proud"

today is his second to last day of school so im interested to see what his friends had to say

I hope my kid grows up to be just like that.

upyerbum - 6-18-2007 at 04:45 PM

I reccomend a Robert Munsch book called "Stephanie's Ponytail", it carries the, "im going to tell them that it doesn't matter what they think and that i like it and thats all that matters", theme and its funny as hell. And I think MVB son has just been quoted on this board more than I have.

Awesome, your son is a smart kid. I might feel different about the hair if he was an adult, but at 7 years old, he's already doing what he wants to do and doing it for the right reasons. I have the same rule for blue or similarly colored hair as I do for mohawks: if you're old enough to have graduated from school, it's way past being cool.

No.

gavin - 6-19-2007 at 10:05 AM

Thats awesome!
My son has had me cut and dye his hair into a red mohawk every summer for three years now (he's 8).
He even saves up some of his own money to buy the bleach & dye.

I would like to add that clear tacky glue (the kind used for arts and crafts projects) diluted with a little bit of water is great for "spiking" up the mohawks. It's non-toxic and washes out easily.

I think it's better than any hairspray or gel that i've used in my sons hair.
