Years back I had a work trip to Nebraska for this power plant. If you don't live there don't ever go. Trust me on this one.

Anyway there was a fairly nice hotel we stayed at that was started by the guy that founded the whole arbor day thing, they had a decent bar and on draft was something I had never heard of called Fat Tire. My associate and I immediately had two pints of this drawn up and were blown away. It's an amber ale 5.2 ABV and tastes so smooth you'll swear its about 1.0, it goes down dangerously easy. The heroic barkeep informed us is a 'local' brew as its made in Fort Collins, CO.

It was the ONLY good thing about that week in hell, AKA Nebraska.

A year or two later in Vegas, (I want to say it was MGM...whichever one has that circle bar near the lobby where the bartenders dance every half hour) I found it on draft again and remembered that brief rendezvous with destiny I had in Hell, AKA Nebraska.

Then last summer Fat Tire introduced its Chicago Inaugural edition to the Windy City. I was overjoyed spreading the word near and far that sex in a bottle was now available east of the Mississippi. It only came in 22 oz bottles, $35-38 a case, but I'll be damned if it isn't worth every last penny.

I thought it was maybe a one time deal, but to my joy, it seems as though its here to stay and now even comes in cases of 12 oz bottles for those comfortable enough with their penis to not need a 22.

If you can find it, I urge you to try it.

We sell a lot of belgium beer in the bar I work in. If you like that stuff you should try Leffe Blonde or Leffe Brunne. Both great abbey beers.

The belgiums use beer like the french use wine and they pair it with all kinds of different foods. They have over 2000 breweries in Belgium and some beer is even made by monks...now thats a holy man I could hang with.

It's actually just the brewery name 'New belgium Brewery', they're located in CO. Although according to the bio thing on there the name Fat Tire came from the founders bike trips around some real Belgium breweries.

I'm a fan of quite a few of the true Belgium beers I've had...but as far as the American microbrewery circuit, this is about the best I've found.
