It's funny to me that most people don't know that they legally don't have to pay income taxes. I watched this movie months ago. Good docu.

How do you reach this conclusion? (And I'm not referring to the movie... I just mean in general.)

some people say that by filing a tax return form you are waiving your 5th ammendment rights.

People have challenged the legality of income taxes, but nobody has won yet.

Originally, income taxes were brought about as a simple and temporary way for the government to raise funds during and after WW2. They seem to have forgotten about that temporary part.

Yeah they have. I have the America Freedom to Fascism DVD...there's 2 people in there that have won.

A number of IRS agents have actually quit their jobs after doing research and realizing you don't have to pay the income tax. It's interesting, the documentary points out Supreme Court cases from 1916 that speak on the 16th Amendment and it not granting the government the right to impose an additional tax.

No one has won in lower courts, like the federal court... but those courts consistently ignore the Supreme Court rulings bearing specifically on the 16th Amd. The IRS certainly can't point out a specific law that grants them the right to collect taxes, or for that matter to impose the income tax. According to this documentary the definiton of "income" in the Constitution is profits made corporate endeavors NOT the trading of a service for money.

I haven't read about those two. Good for them, if they won they deserve praise, because that's not an easy thing to do.

DaveMoral - 7-13-2007 at 03:06 PM

One of them was an ex-IRS enforcement agent. In other words, he used to be one of the dudes that would come to "tax evaders" houses with guns drawn. Dude did some research and claims he found no legal precedent for what the IRS does.

JUICE MAYNE MSHC - 7-13-2007 at 03:17 PM

yeah they talk to a juror from the guy's trial...after seeing the evidence they all agreed that the IRS couldn't prove that there's a law requiring any citizen to pay income taxes. Everybody should watch this documentary.
