Bloody Hell.

Dave - 8-9-2007 at 06:20 PM

WoW, as a VW driver, that thing is nutty.

Loved to have seen a vid of it really fucking tearing it up.

BDx13 - 8-9-2007 at 06:38 PM

i think that thing looks amazing.

Dave - 8-9-2007 at 11:15 PM

and sounds mean.........

BDx13 - 8-9-2007 at 11:31 PM

what do you think they'd try to sell that for if it ever went to market?

with those specs, it's definitely a high-end car, but it's still a vw.
it's quicker and has a higher top speed than the new Audi R8, which starts at like $120k...but it's still a vw.

JawnDiablo - 8-10-2007 at 06:28 AM

i saw this in a magazine.
i doubt it would be made into a production car though, but who knows for sure

XHonusWagnerX - 8-10-2007 at 07:47 AM

Im not a car guy at all, but thats impressive!

Dave - 8-10-2007 at 09:09 AM

i dont think they'd ever make it into a production car, it'd cost too much.

Dave - 8-10-2007 at 09:18 AM

not as impressive as that GTI, but check out this one someone is selling, here in my town:

VR6 Twin Turbo 370 hp, 385 torque

moforn - 8-10-2007 at 09:20 AM

That sounds amazing. I think the engine's derived from the w12 they had in the Phaeton which was essentially two vr6s (a great engine in it's own right) sharing a crank- so a v configured engine with each side being a v engine itself, hence the "w". I can't imagine this will go into production, but it's a pretty cool display of what they can do.

BDx13 - 8-10-2007 at 09:34 AM

shit, i'd buy that car for the license plate.

Dave - 8-10-2007 at 01:42 PM

ahhh Lionel, you fucking VW geek.

i love ya

a buddy of mine in the VWP (our crew back in the day) had one, but i didn't really fit in it very well!

It will never go into production. The last time VW tried to sell a really expensive car was the Phaton and that was a disaster for the company. There is no way you could keep that car under 100k while rocking a Bentley engine.

All that aside what an amazing project and a pleasure to watch. Thanks for the link.

MM.

BDx13 - 6-11-2009 at 11:00 AM

my parents had a plymouth horizon.
i was not a fan!

clevohardcore - 6-11-2009 at 11:18 AM

MY wifes second car was a omni. That thing had a ton of issues. Funny story. For my wifes 21st I took her out and we got hammered at WALLABI's steakhouse, and TGI FRIDAYS for more drinks. We split a blooming onion and shark meat at W and then at TGIF we had a spinach artichoke dip app. Combined that with a massive amount of alcohol it was a timebomb. This along with the fact the passanger window never rolled down was a recipe for disaster. Driving home I am listening to h2o and thinking about all the sex we're going to have when we get there and silently she is puking between the door and her seat. Suddenly I smell something more foul than wastewater plant. She looks at me and says "we need to get home asap and STOP DRIVING CRAZY". I bust out laughing and have to roll the window down and hang my head out the window. It was sooo bad. That car sucked.

crysler did a;
Shelby Lancer, Shelby Daytona, Shelby Charger, Shelby Dakota, and i think a Shelby GLH

all dont sell for super much, and all were very limited production
with the ford shelbys going higher and higher, i know these will bump in value very soon!

holy shit, read this;
'Standard features for the 1986 GLH-S included heavy duty, power brakes (10.2 inch disc up front, 8.0 x 1.28 drum rear); tinted glass; various trim blackouts and stripes; Bosch road lights; cargo-bay carpet; five-speed manual transmission with heel-and-toe pedals; extra sound insulation; high-back cloth seats; AM stereo/FM stereo; full instrument cluster; 14:1 rack and pinion power steering; air conditioning; rear defroster; and leather-wrapped wheel and shifter. The suspension used stiffer front anti-sway bars and fully adjustable Koni iso-struts with coil springs that could be manually set up for different conditions. The rear used the usual semi-independent trailing-arm suspension'

they were doing evo/subaru shit years before!

here's a lancer turbo on ebay. immacualte
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ite...

i would buy this i a heartbeat if it was closer.

3rdDistrict - 6-11-2009 at 04:11 PM

and that black GLHS could go for 11K, maybe.
its a perfect example

Dave - 6-11-2009 at 06:04 PM

i wound't pay 11k for an omni....

haha i paid 1k for mine, and that was in umm... 1992/93 maybe?
