I stayed in VA beach for a week or so when I was in the US .... theres really not much unless you're in the navy and like bars and strip clubs ...

I went to RICHMOND, VA .... now that place is exactly like where I live. It's a nice city, doesn't seem to be sketch or dirty. I'd definetly move there if I moved to VA.

OK the LOWDOWN on Virginia Beach...

I work for the news down here (WVEC-TV, ABC affiliate) so I know a bunch about the area...

VA Beach has nice, rich expensive areas and cheap, hateful ghettos...If you want to live near the oceanfront its gonna cost you a fair chunk...North Beach is quieter, more laid back, residential and there are usually a fair amount of rentals...now if you can't afford to live in the oceanfront, there are tons of sections of VA Beach, I mean it is a huge city. It just has some serious pockets of ghetto so you gotta be careful...

I live in Willoughby which is a peninsula that was created by a hurricane about 300 years ago...it's technically in Norfolk and part of the beach area called Ocean View...it's cool because its beaches are on the Chesapeake Bay with views from Hampton to the sea, lots of ship traffic to watch and constant air and sea shows from the local military bases...but OV is kinda gehtto...like coney island in virginia, right?

The beaches are cool, small surf, but fun and it picks up and gets heavy evry now and then, to the point you think you might die...yeah, I love surfing here though...

The scene seems to be good...I'm 35 and have been here about 2 years so I go to the shows that interest me and don't knw a whole lot of people in the local scene, mostly a younger generation here and I'm a workaholic for the most part...but Norva has some good shows, good slection of touring bands hit there...

The Outer Banks are an hour from here and is probably the most beautiful place in the world...and where they are gonna shoot my ashes from a cannon...

and if you skate, Trashmore was reborn a couple years ago and its going off...I'm an old man with a blown knee so I nearly cry everytime I drive past, but Ive shot some sgtories out there about the skaters and the par and its a really good city facility...

so take it at face value...its not that bad a place, paradise in my parts, perilous in others...hampton roads is cool, but the worst ghettos in NYC and LA got nothing on ours...they are just as devolved

good to see you could make the party j-sinn
now if raymond knew how to read or write....
the conquest of this board by old people would continue

wow, thank you. i'm not really part of the choosing process of where it is because i think my friend is moving down there a little before i am. i think he already has his heart set on a spot, but i'm not really sure. i'm all nervous about leaving home and i don't want this to end up to be an awful experience. i'm a smalltown maine girl.

does it have all the season changing stuff? i've never seen seasons change like they do in new england..
