Is it a copy killer? or a present day Mike Meyers gets out of psychiatric ward film? I couldn't figure it out by the commercial and I only saw it once so.

it's a retelling of the original halloween but with more insight into mike as a kid and concentration on him as a fucking nut job.

i agree. i think rob zombie would do a good job with it. he's also stated he plans to end it with this movie and not leave room for a sequel because he has no plans on making a halloween 2 (which would be a rebooted halloween 2...etc)

Im gonna go tomorrow I think

CR83 - 8-31-2007 at 09:55 AM

It looks VERY good.

I gota DVD of it from a friend who found it online. He said that the DVD says its from last year so it might be (probably is?) a diferent edit. I didnt watch it yet because I dont want to ruin anything from seeing it on the 'big screen'.

I really dig Zombie's other films so I'm seein it sometime soon..

oh chrisreed83..that rick ta life on the horse is fuckin bad assed!

House of 1000 Corpses was alright... not a favorite but it wasn't bad. Devil's Rejects kicked ass though. I'm definately looking forward to this one. Zombie definately knows what he is doing directing.

I went to see it yesterday. Fortunately I got free passes from a friend. Overall I did not like it. At the risk of sounding like a horror nerd that overanalyzes things here's what I hated (SPOILERS AHEAD):

1. Too much background for Michael Myers. I liked the ambiguous origins he had originally as you weren't sure what he was other than a death machine. Now he's a textbook psycho from a bad home.

2. Tyler Mane, while making a visually cool Myers, is too big in my opinion since I liked the idea of him looking like just a guy with a mask and a jumpsuit. Now he's a fucking juggernaut.

3. Rob Zombie's obsession with 70's rock, while fitting for part of the film set in the 70's, was annoying in the rest of it.

On the bright side, it was cool to see all the genre actors Zombie has worked with in the past show up. I think all the main characters from 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects show up. Plus, he pulls no punches with the gore and violence. There are some brutal kill scenes.

(Semi-Spoilers)
I thought it was an awesome take on the Halloween story. I personally LOVED the back story, and was thinking that the first half of the movie, that THAT is what a "prequel" should be like. Then the remainder of the movie was classic horror all the way. Felt just like the original in ways.

And yes, Rob does not hold back on the gore. Most people would shy away from it and not have a kid killing people, especially that brutally.

movie fucking rocked in my opinion.
