Discipline - 9-3-2007 at 12:04 PM

I remember that feeling when I went back to school a couple of years ago. Nervous, but at the same time intrigued. Good luck and have fun with it.

stateofdisgrace - 9-3-2007 at 12:28 PM

Find a good frat to join, makes all the difference.

Siczine.com - 9-3-2007 at 06:02 PM

I despise frats.

Kid Ugly - 9-3-2007 at 08:51 PM

I haven't been to school in a year and a half, and I plan to go back this spring. Can't wait actually, I want to get it over with.

newbreedbrian - 9-3-2007 at 10:43 PM

thanks for the encouragement. i'm really looking forward to it overall. after working mind numbing jobs for a lot of years, my brain is kinda stuck in first gear at the moment. gonna be crazy to have to study again (hmm.....didn't do a whole lot of that the first time around either). i've worked really hard to make this happen so i have no intention of fucking it up.

morgan - 9-3-2007 at 10:54 PM

Best of luck to you.... started about 2 weeks ago its definatelyt different from anything I've experienced thus far.

upyerbum - 9-3-2007 at 11:55 PM

Your biggest problem will be putting up with the sheer stupidity of the youngsters.

I'm just fucking around with you. I will give it to you that the vast majority of people my age are complete idiots.

Dave - 9-4-2007 at 08:38 AM

Good luck Brian, i know your in school right now, but i'm sure you got thru day one fine.

now day two thats another thing!

BDx13 - 9-4-2007 at 10:08 AM

those of you that are currently in school or are about to start... what are you doing? graduate, undergrad, GED ;)? what made you go back and what are you doing?

i've long considered going back for a masters degree, but the cost is prohibitive. i'm looking for inspiration.

newbreedbrian - 9-4-2007 at 11:06 AM

d, i'm going to community college for electrical. i went back because i'm tired of working a shit job for little money basically. i've been doing that for entirely too long and i need a change. just got back from first day orientation. feelings from the first day: #1 feeling old for sure #2 based on looking around, getting weed won't be a problem #3 major sausage fest, actually 2 good looking girls in my class though so it's not all bad.

Dave - 9-4-2007 at 11:39 AM

2 good looking girls in your class is all you need.

and atleast one other person that is older than you!

upyerbum - 9-4-2007 at 09:32 PM

I got out of the military at 25, with a grade 10 edjumecation. I couldn't even spell soopervizer and now I is one. Stay in school.

But seriously, a very big shift in reality for me at the time, but it's like money in the bank, man.

newbreedbrian - 9-4-2007 at 11:21 PM

no doubt. i'm really motivated to get this started. it's gonna be nice to not be a fuck up kid and actually want to learn. just got home from work, off to bed to get my 6.5 hrs sleep and back at 'er.

I'm curious, how long did you served? I just "served my time", one year and though it was the most funniest and craziest year in my life, it feels like I've lost one year out of my life.

upyerbum - 9-5-2007 at 08:30 PM

7 years.

I dropped out of school for various reasons and mostly it was because I was a dumb kid who thought I was too smart for schoo. Well, I went and did roofing for 2 years and learned that the real world isn't easy, at all. So, after saving up money and building a desire to better myself, I gave my two weeks notice and decided to go back to school. A couple weeks later I went and got my GED and took a placement test at CCP. Thus far I've done good in my collegiate career, I have a 4.0 GPA and am in the Liberal Arts Honors program, when I graduate I plan to attend Temple through the dual admissions program. I am determined to be the first person in my family to graduate college.

upyerbum - 9-5-2007 at 08:52 PM

Roofing is hell on Earth, and I've been in combat zones.

Siczine.com - 9-5-2007 at 10:44 PM

Yeah during the winter it's colder than a witch's tit up there all day and during the summer...well you know. You make great money but it's at a price. I mean while I was working I was jacked as hell but I figured out that I wasn't trying to do that when I'm 40-50...I've seen 35yr olds who look 60 from the constant beatdown from the sun.

BDx13 - 9-5-2007 at 10:57 PM

good for you, Siczine, congratulations.
