MISFITS 30th anniversary tour

clevohardcore - 9-7-2007 at 02:22 PM

The Misfits are headed out on a 30th anniversary tour of the US (and Toronto) following their current dates in the UK. As previously reported the band is touring there alongside the Briefs. The anniversary tour kicks off on October 12th in Springfield, VA. Click below for the dates.

The present day Misfits are are of course centered around bassist Jerry Only backed by former Black Flag members Dez Cadena and Robo.

I'm against it.

DAK - 9-7-2007 at 03:17 PM

It's not the Misfits. Jerry sucks at the full time singing gig. It's a old timers all star band playing Misfit songs.

JawnDiablo - 9-7-2007 at 03:25 PM

i have a dvd from 2005 with danzig and doyle on stage together belting out the misfits tunes.
doyle looks way more healthier than danzig

im still against it

Jason the Magnificent - 9-7-2007 at 03:48 PM

Sounds stupid. Shows will sell out.

gavin - 9-7-2007 at 04:09 PM

i saw them with this line up about 5 years ago maybe
me and my boy cosmo went
they played half misfits and like 10 black flag songs
i was really jacked up to see it and................................

it was the biggest piece of crap EVER
and this is coming from someone who saw gorilla biscuits once
G.B. looked like the fucking beatles compared to this wang-a-thon

Discipline - 9-7-2007 at 04:19 PM

I wouldn't go even if it was free.

i kinda recall getting in for free

then i wanted someone to pay me for standing through it

Discipline - 9-7-2007 at 04:40 PM

I saw them a few times with Graves and enjoyed it, as I like those two albums. I also saw them with Zoli from Ignite on vocals because Graves and Chud quit in the middle of a tour. I'm not paying to see Jerry's sad embarassment of a band now.

I recall the first time I saw them with Graves. I only went because Sheer Terror was supposed to be one of the opening bands. Too bad ST broke up and nobody told me. I showed up and almost beat the shit out of the guy at the door when he told ST wasn't playing. Instead it was Sardonica and the Misfits. Fucking pissed me off.

Siczine.com - 9-7-2007 at 05:05 PM

I think this is the same lineup that played Hellfest 2002...they played after the CroMags.

that last line is fuckin priceless!

BDx13 - 9-7-2007 at 06:22 PM

"wang-a-thon"
add that to the 'memorable lines' thread.

DaveMoral - 9-7-2007 at 06:45 PM

Geez. Why don't they call the band... Oh, I don't know... Braineaters, and play Misfits and Black Flag songs the way FVK(another line up of old time hardcore all-stars) plays Bad Brains and Cro-Mags tunes.

I agree what's the point? $

clevohardcore - 9-7-2007 at 07:15 PM

they need to just reunite. Give those who want to see it a show and then call it a day. This milking of REUNION when it not a REUNION thing is for the birds.

XHonusWagnerX - 9-10-2007 at 10:05 AM

Ive seen this version of the Misfits and as fun as it is to hear the songs, its kind of sad. I think its really to bad that the 30th anniversary is going to be celebrated with this line up.

Six66Mike - 9-10-2007 at 10:45 AM

Toronto promoter is running a "battle of the bands" for openers to the show there, so if your in the area go battle it out for the honour of opening for washed up punk celebs lol.

Jason the Magnificent - 9-10-2007 at 01:11 PM

Sounds like one of the promoters out here. Bands usually have to pay to enter those, so he makes a couple grand off the opening bands paying to play and has more money in pocket.

BDx13 - 9-10-2007 at 01:57 PM

the group currently calling themselves the misfits is of no interest to me.
don't know why, but for some reason, i even liked them better when graves was in the band.
i think when doyle and jerry fell out, that was it for me.

i've always thought of a band's vocalist as it's central figure, so doyle popping up on that danzig tour last year or whenever was the closest thing to the real deal in years. hell, glenn singing any misfits song with any band behind him works for me!

Exactly, even if Glenn is a total ass cave.

JawnDiablo - 9-10-2007 at 06:39 PM

I'd pay to see a Black Flag reunion show ....well i'd probably want to see the shit....

I back this statement. I would dig the new albums with Graves if Jerry had just changed the name. But the fact that they have the nuts to call it The Misfits pisses me off.

Theres not enough merchandising money in a band called Braineaters vs a band called THE MISFITS

i went to that benifit for the west memphis 3 that rollins did where him and keith morris did all black flag songs and it was KILLER
and i mean KILLER

newbreedbrian - 9-11-2007 at 04:12 PM

i was dying to go to the black flag reunion in LA a few years back. glad i didn't as the reviews were pretty harsh for it. like pre-recorded bass and drums and shit. that being said i'd certainly take any black flag table scraps i could get my hands on if i lived close by but not for the fortune it would have cost me to go to that. one of the first punk bands i got into and hell of a lot of years later i love 'em just as much.

*as for the misfits thing give it up. i saw them on that first reunion tour, wasn't bad but certainly wasn't the misfits. i'd still go see a danzig led reunion in a second but that's not gonna happen.

CR83 - 9-11-2007 at 05:02 PM

I'd love to hear the story behind Doyle and Glen touring and how it all came together and Jerry's side of it as well.

Me too. I always wondered what happened between Jerry and Doyle. I also wonder if Doyle's new band is ever going to release anything.

Jason the Magnificent - 9-12-2007 at 07:57 AM

I think Doyle will perform with whoever can carry him.

DAK - 9-12-2007 at 10:54 AM

I think I read that Doyle's band has already been recorded. Simon Bisley did the cover.

DAK - 9-12-2007 at 10:59 AM

Gorgeous Frankenstein comes out Oct. 2, 2007 via Danzig's label Evilive.
