I saw the preview during the movie last night. My cousin is all about it but its not really my thing. Are these movies really that good? He was going apeshit over it. Says they are the best horror series movies ever. I thought they were teen movie bullshit.

Saw I was amazing...considering the sad state of affairs the US movie industry has been in over the last decade, especially in regards to these types of movies it was amazing. Saw II was merely a bridge to three and wasn't all that great but still better than half of the shit that comes out and the third one was more gorey than the first and had lots of great twists.

I cannot wait for the 4th one, hopefully it'll conclude one of my favorite series in proper fashion.

Boring. It's just movies playing on the whole gore aspect. It's a shame that people think that this is what a horror movie is. I miss the good slasher flicks.

If you're talking about Saw I, I can't help but feel like you didn't watch it all the way through. That was an extremely well done movie, and hardly relied on gore at all except to introduce a character. Fucking great psychological thriller that one was. Now if you're talking about Saw II, you're dead on. Cliche paint by numbers characters, terrible storyline, predictable outcomes all the way through. All around a terrible fucking movie. Saw III was much better but nowhere near as good as the first one.

Not a huge fan of the series but they are still better than most of the horror movies that have been released lately. But they really are whiipping the series to death. I can only hope they stop after 4.

I don't understand people not thinking there isn't good horror going on...just in the past 5 years theres been a resurgence of above average to great horror movies not catering to the PG-13 big draw crowd.

You are right about the genre coming back but for a while the PG-13 bullshit reigned supreme. I will give the first Saw credit for coming out when shit like The Ring and The Grudge were popular.

I saw the first one and thought it was slightly above average for what it was, but definitely nothing special. I had absolutely no desire to see them pull that out into a series as I don't think the character warrants that treatment, so I've never watched 2 or 3 and 4 just looks ridiculous from the previews.

Of course, I will readily admit that I am predisposed to dislike franchises based around a specific character such as Friday The 13th, Halloween, Nightmare On Elm Street and the like. It takes a lot to make me give a shit about stuff that falls in or around the horror genre if it's more than a single movie. I just don't see the point in stretching these movies on and on until they're bad parodies of themselves. Even when I love the original movie, Texas Chainsaw Massacre for example, I have trouble seeing a need for sequels and generally find them to be a huge waste of time as well as a pathetic money grab.

they're writing 5 right now and it has a release date for around halloween '08. Tobin Bell has been signed on for 4-6. they're being made.

Man, I thought Cabin Fever was horrible. Same with Wrong Turn. But pretty much every other movie you named is good. Really liked Hostel 1, 2 was a big let down.

A friend of mine, and my girlfriend's brother too actually,
