Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Thorp X-Mass CD Trade Thread.......!

Dave - 9-29-2007 at 10:00 PM

i know some people are in for this already, from another thread. But lets get a list of who's all in for it this year.

BD let us know if we can PM our addys to you again and can you distro them again, like last year?

I'm in!

joemaconmovies - 9-29-2007 at 11:18 PM

i'm in

JawnDiablo - 9-30-2007 at 01:08 AM

im in

Murk - 9-30-2007 at 01:18 AM

i'm in.

i was reading up on the thread from last year.

my only question is, should the CD have some consistency or should it be just whatever we think is cool and maybe others haven't heard?

also, if there's any interest, i'd like to include a bonus CD on mine of all "Dub" Reggae. i've been listening to a lot lately and can definitely bring the fire on that genre.

Lucabrasi - 9-30-2007 at 02:56 AM

im in for sure

Six66Mike - 9-30-2007 at 05:52 AM

How about an online version and we can upload a ZIP/RAR of our choice somewhere?

last year the cd's were all over the place, you can pretty much put whatever you want on it, although last year there were a few that had a theme to them.

last year we had:
hardcore
punk
Oi!
country
rockabilly
ska
reggae
and everything else in between.
so no limits.

i'd be up for uploading it again this year, but getting shit in the mail is wicked.

Six66Mike - 9-30-2007 at 06:56 AM

Did people print off good liner notes or just black & white? I'd probably do a double CD, 1 half Australian 1 half Canadian haha

i'd like to hear the reggae as opposed to hardcore stuff...

clevohardcore - 9-30-2007 at 09:28 AM

format = whatever you want.

cover art = whatever you want.

I got a new address so I'll forward it to BD. Already got the cd's I just need to compile some tunes. Lets set a tentative final mail out date as of December 10th. that way we get the cd's before the holidays and we can jam them out while we go sledding, shop, drink, go for smoke breaks, or have sex.

upyerbum - 9-30-2007 at 11:09 AM

I'm in. I'm gonna' put a little more effort into my liner notes this year. I'm for mailing them out. Getting all those CD's in the mail kicked ass last year.

XHonusWagnerX - 9-30-2007 at 11:33 AM

Im In....

brooklyn - 9-30-2007 at 12:06 PM

if I find some time in my mad life I certainly will try to put something together. maybe a coversongs cd by HC and Oi bands, or some rarities put together. I certainly prefer to upload it to sharefiling sites so people can decide if thay wanna dl it or not.

DAK - 9-30-2007 at 02:02 PM

The uploading would save alot of money.

joemaconmovies - 9-30-2007 at 03:05 PM

my printer is dead so my liner notes will probably be non-existent or be simple or if you use itunes, be featured there.

Dave - 9-30-2007 at 03:17 PM

last year my theme was all CDN bands for those whom missed out.. ..

as for this year, i'm not saying...

as for the money i think it only cost me like 10-15$ for everything last year, at the most.

JawnDiablo - 9-30-2007 at 04:56 PM

i like having the physical disc

I really enjoyed doing this last year, but my cd burner is acting stupid,my printer is half fucked, and I'm getting ready to move....so I may sit this one out.
But I still have plenty of time,so if I get my shit together, maybe I'll be able to jump in a little later.

Murk - 9-30-2007 at 09:47 PM

i'm psyched about the idea of getting CDs in the mail.

Six66Mike - 9-30-2007 at 10:04 PM

How about those that can actually burn/post theirs but also upload them somewhere, and those who can't can contribute uploads too :)

It sounds cheap but I can't afford to send a CD from Australia with a wife, 2 kids, rent & 1 small income but I wanna take part this year & spread some shit.

copeyboy - 9-30-2007 at 10:47 PM

I'll have to read up on this, but it sounds like something I would like to be a part of. I'll check out the other post and then PM whomever I need to. Would it be allowable for a new guy like me to become a part of this "tradition"? Let me know. Thanks.

joemaconmovies - 10-1-2007 at 12:42 AM

i'm pretty sure it'd be cool dude but i don't talk for all us regular thorpers.

morgan - 10-1-2007 at 12:46 AM

I'm thinking I'd be up for it this year.

CR83 - 10-1-2007 at 09:38 AM

I'm in for sure. Copeyboy, you should feel very free to do this. It's cool.

I'm all for the Download versions of it. It helps our international friends and saves dough.

BDx13 - 10-1-2007 at 12:58 PM

a big part of wha this board has always been about is introducing one another to new music.

for that reason, i'm up for anything. you wanna do a proper mix of strictly hardcore? fine. you wanna just send a copy of some obscure 60s jazz recording? fine. you wanna hand-write liner notes? fine. you wanna do downloads? fine. (just keep 'em high quality files and put 'em in a zip!) honestly, whatever people want to do is fine with me.

any new comers that want it, copeyboy, etc, that's cool, too. keeping active on the board would probably instill a little more confidence, but that's only because we had one person who was kind of new last year that said he was in but never sent anything.

BDx13 - 10-1-2007 at 01:02 PM

if we're doing a send date deadline of 12/10, what should the signup deadline be? how about sunday 11/25?

and yes, you can start sending me your addresses via U2U and I'll send them all to everyone after the signup deadline.

panzerkreuzer - 10-1-2007 at 01:03 PM

i´m in too. i want to spread german stuff to the world.
how does it exactly work?

Didn't you guys try this once already? :P

I believe we'll U2U our mailing addresses to BD who will then distribute them to everyone who has submitted an address, you then burn a copy of your mix CD for everyone on the list and mail them out. Then you wait for everyone elses CD to arrive in the mail (that's the fun part). It worked well last year with only one person not coming thru. I can understand the download option, but getting a CD in the mail every other day for 2 weeks was great last year.

tireironsaint - 10-1-2007 at 03:10 PM

I think I'll be in this year, I've just gotta make sure I can get my shit workin' right first.

Dave - 10-1-2007 at 03:36 PM

if you need any help making anything just make a post!

BDx13 - 10-1-2007 at 03:37 PM

panzerkreuzer, i'm definitely into a german-themed comp.

JawnDiablo - 10-1-2007 at 03:48 PM

bratwurst and brewhahas

CR83 - 10-1-2007 at 03:54 PM

The more the merrier I say. I'll go with whatever the group digs. I also think that there should be no limit to genre.

i´ll give my best.

Murk - 10-1-2007 at 07:20 PM

just so you guys know, if you take a standard paper CD sleeve and tape it up good, you can mail a CD and a piece of paper for about 60 cents. i've done it many times.

How did you do it so cheap? The few I sent in Canada cost next to nothing, but I spent a bunch on all the ones shipped to the U.S. I'm too broke this year for that.

random - 10-2-2007 at 12:22 AM

i might be in for this, if clevo will tell me whether or not all the shit i burned to a dvd worked for him :)
