Strung Out robbed in Philadelphia

BDx13 - 10-5-2007 at 10:15 AM

California's Strung Out had their van, trailer, equipment, etc. stolen this morning in Philadelphia. Drummer Jordan Burns has posted the following information via the group's website:

"So our van and trailer just got stolen from our hotel here in Philly around 7 30am. We had just checked in and no more then 20 minutes later, Chris happen to look out the window and see our van driving out. Sure enough, it was skidrow motherfucker ripping it off. So we have lost ALL of our equipment, all of our merch, tons of personal stuff and we are pretty much fucked and stuck in a shitty Days Inn in a fucked up part of town in Philly. There was a double homicide 2 blocks down the road that we were watching about on TV so ya, not a nice part of town at all. Anyhow, if you live in Philly, please be on the look out for our van and trailer. Its a light blue ford E 350 15 passenger van with a white trailer with white rims. There is a bull skull mounted on the front of the grill. We are trying to think what to do. We will figure out how the show must go on though because we for sure dont want to or are we thinking about canceling the tour. We have a lot to figure out here."

This sucks for them, but....
HAHAHAHAHAAA

man...if you are stupid enough to leave your van and trailer unattended in any parking lot in Philly then it's your fault if it gets stolen. About 6 years ago we were staying in Philly with this dude Ron Dog in a pretty bad neighborhood. His apartment was tiny so I parked the van and trailer down the block in a Walgreens parking lot and went to sleep. I woke up at about 6 in the morning in the van with the whole thing jacked up on the back of a tow truck. I jumped out and the 2 cocksuckers that were trying to tow me almost shit their pants. I said "what the fuck are you guys doing?" and they were "ummm, we have to clean out the parking lot before the store opens up." "I said "yeah, ok" and they said "well, we can see you are just a man travelling around in his van so we'll let it go." They were trying to be nice to me because I knew they were full of shit. Funny thing is they could have beaten me up and taken that van and no one in that neighborhood would have cared.
Anyway, my point is you always have to have at least one dude sleep in the van. A couple years ago when Wisdom In Chains's van was stolen Richie was asleep in the back and woke up as the theif was driving off. Richie snuck up and starting pounding the dude and they wrecked BUT none of their shit got stolen.

A big fuckin' dog does the trick too.

newbreedbrian - 10-5-2007 at 01:38 PM

shitty deal. that shits always in the back of your mind on tour. we always had someone sleep in the van every night.

We got lost in Philly last month at 4am and ended up in some ghetto in a huge SUV filled with about 10 grands worth of gear and 5 lives. You never seen an Irishman drive like that before.

damn I never heard of anything like this happening on Philadelphia. it always seemed like the safest place in the US.....not

I remember that story, first thing I thought of when reading this thread. If your van is your livlihood and you have thousands of dollars worth of gear in there, merch, and the van itself why the fuck would you live it alone, sheer stupidity. I don't care if you're in the safest midwest town or North Philly, keep someone on top of that shit at all times.

And I swear, it seems bands get their vans and gear stolen in Philly more than anywhere else.

DaveMoral - 10-5-2007 at 10:29 PM

I wonder if any local crews have anything to do with that? You know, some guy in some band says something to somebody the wrong way... and bam, there you go. Your shit's gone.
