I recently had one and was wondering what other stories you guys might have!
Not the most recent time, but the time before I was having work done on my sacred heart. I had eaten that morning and had been sitting for about 2
hours when all of a sudden I started to feel 'not so good'. I didnt know what was up, but I knew something was wrong. I had a friend that worked at
the shop and she asked if I was okay and I dont even remember what my answer was. I know the artist looked up at me and said.. "okay... were done for
today!".
After the fact they told me that I was totally white and I know that things were getting all fuzzy and I was having a hard time seeing/hearing. It
sucked because not only was it a shitty feeling, but I was wicked embarassed! My friend ran next door and got me some apple juice and a few minutes
later I was fine, but still embarassed!
I dont know what happened because I had sat for longer than that in the past. The only differences were that he was working close to the area behind
my knee and he was using a rotary tattoo gun, but I dont think either of those things should have made me almost pass out!gavin - 10-23-2007 at 03:45 PM
it happens more often than one might thinktireironsaint - 10-23-2007 at 03:49 PM
Sometimes it just hits people wrong. I haven't had an experience where it got to that point, but I have definitely had times where it's hit me a hell
of a lot harder than other times. A lot of it has to do with your stress levels, low or high blood sugar, how much rest you've gotten, and other
general health stuff. Having someone basically traumatize a section of your skin for an extended period of time can really bring a lot of shit to the
surface that wouldn't even phase you otherwise.JUICE MAYNE MSHC - 10-23-2007 at 03:51 PM
yeah that's pretty common. It happened to me once and I just drank some water and I was fine.
It happened to one of my friends about 30 seconds into his first tattoo and he was freakin out bad and it was about the goddamn funniest thing I've
ever seen in my life.morgan - 10-23-2007 at 03:54 PM
Yeah my first experience was great. This one coming up though has me a little nervous. Its going to be right on my shin. I know its going to hurt
like a bitch. Any advice on how to prepare for it?XHonusWagnerX - 10-23-2007 at 03:58 PM

My shin didnt really hurt at all. It swelled like hell after the fact and it hurt to stand on that leg, but the actually tattoo was not bad at all.
The back of my calf on the other hand was NOT FUN AT ALL!!!!gavin - 10-23-2007 at 04:23 PM
ive gotten tattooed in all kids of bad places and it still happens to me from time to time
nothing you can do about it except make sure you eat and have a coke near you to drink
coke is the best thing to bring your blood sugar back up real quick
once it happens once, it will not happen again in that sittingbombidol - 10-23-2007 at 06:11 PM
Shin doesn't hurt when its getting done but by fucking god that shit hurts for a few days after.
Best tattoo story I have. Was out one night with Paul from the band, chillin at his place drinkin hard and nerdin' it up. I was booked in for 11am to
get some more work done on my leg the next morning.
I woke up at like 10.30 and I was a good hour away from the tattoo place out at Paul's, I ran out the fuckin door tired as hell after crashin on the
floor. Basically I broke every fuckin pre tattoo rule. Drinkin, Hungry, tired, hung over the whole nine yards.
So I'm waitin on the bus and all of a sudden I get the urge to take a shit. I'm waitin and I'm waitin and there aint no bus and I really need a shit
by this stage. I say fuck it and go lookin for a cab. waitin on a cab for a few minutes and by this stage im sweatin. I'm debating running back to
Paul's but i know I'm not gonna make it. Just then a cab pulls up and I bail in praying for a quick journey.
This fuckin cabbie is pulling out all the stops to milk me for my coin, side roads and traffic lights. I'm fuckin dyin' and I cant even talk to the
dude.
We get downtown and I just shout at the dude, "pull the fuck over" I throw some cash at him and hop out. theres a fast food place right beside me so I
run in, up the stairs and into the gents.
2 Stalls.
1 Occupied
1 out of order
What would you do?
I done what any normal bloke would do.
I fuckin kicked in the door of the out of order one.
Swear to god I don't know how a kidney didn't fall out like a cherry on top or how I didn't need stitches afterwards. It was so evil that I was fuckin
spinning and lightheaded all the way to the tattoo place.
I fall into the place, collapse on to the bench and essentially drift in and out of consciousness for the next 3 hours while Walt works on my leg.BDx13 - 10-23-2007 at 06:30 PM
that's a good story!
i've never had any problems getting tattooed. yeah, it hurts sometimes, but getting lightheaded or passing out has never been an issue.
the same can not be said for giving blood. it's not the actual blood, but rather that whole needle in the vein thing is a HUGE psychological issue
for me. i always dwell on it, wind up focusing on unpleasant memories, then getting all sweaty and hard of hearing. never actually passed out, but
it still sucks. there's a new nurse at my doctor's office that's really good though. she's taken blood from me twice without issue. i've considered
going to a hyptnotist (sp?) or something, but i don't believe that would work.bombidol - 10-23-2007 at 07:03 PM
yeah I have a thing about regular needles too. cant stand emJawnDiablo - 10-23-2007 at 07:33 PM
When I first started getting tattooed back when I was like 17 or 18 I had that dizzy / pale / cold sweat / near black out experience. I was getting
tattooed on my back and this dude was digging me. fuckin biker kinda tattoo shop with assholes lingering poking fun. now that i think of it too, it
was in july and hot as hell.
one day soon I'm gonna get more. havent had one in 8 years...XnMeX - 10-23-2007 at 10:01 PM
I had somthing similar happen on my 2nd tattoo. Probably because I didn't eat at all so it was my own damn fault. I was also in an odd position
because the place I went to for my 2nd tat only had a chair, no table. 1st tattoo, back of calf, laying on a table...NO PROBLEM. 2nd tattoo, back of
other calf, standing with one leg bended resting on a chiar, not having eaten anything...PROBLEM! I felt a cold sweat, the most diziness ever, and
was the closest I have ever felt to passing out. Then my fiance ran and got me a chili dog and was going to feed it to me while a VEGAN tattoo artist
was working on me.... yeah, great idea. Asked the artist if we could take a break for 5 minutes, he was cool with it, and I ate the hotdog outside
out of respect, informed my fiance and she was like "oh shit, didn't even think of that!" while there were tons of "animal murder, peat, meat is
murder" posters all over his wall.morgan - 10-23-2007 at 10:26 PM

Glad I'm not the only one who hates needles. I can give blood and get shots but I absolutely refuse to watch them put the needle in. Hell, I hate
watching other people get stuck with needles.BDx13 - 10-23-2007 at 11:28 PM
it's only giving blood for me.
getting a shot is no problem.
getting tattooed is no problem.
getting pierced was never a problem.
the needle in the vein in the inside of the elbow is a problem.Dave - 10-24-2007 at 06:31 AM
i've gotten light headed/sicky feeling before, mostly because i dont think that i ate for awhile, so now whenever i get a tattoo, i always bring a big
bottle of gatorate or something like that.BKT - 10-24-2007 at 12:22 PM

The shin is no problem at all. I was really surprised when I got my leg done that it did not hurt more.
I have not really had any bad tattoo expirences, there have been times when I was just not up for it and had to tap out early, but that is about all.
In general I can't sit much past 2 and a half to 3 hours. I am just over it by then.

The fact that that was never a problem for me was the problem.
