Siczine.com - 12-2-2007 at 06:37 PM

YA no UNited States yet. But the description does sound very good. I am planning on hitting the local Irish Pub here in Westlake around the holidays. This place is as legit as it gets while being in the US. I'll ask them then and report back what they say, if anything interesting is reported.

Hahaha, I said REPORTED like I am important.

This is most likely part of their new marketing campaign. They have released a few different variations on the original recipe. Most of which have been pretty decent I must say. If I'm downtown in the next few days I'll grab one and yet yiz know lads.

Very cool. Consider it a SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT. Hey I got to ask. Is it really true that in IRELAND the GUINNESS is really differnet than in the US. I find it really fucking hard to believe that GUINESS would sacrifice the reputation of there company and make a shittier beer for the US. Now I have never been to Ireland but I love the GUINESS we have at our bars and Pubs. Someone I met once who is really fucking annoying as was in Ireland about 2 years ago said that in the Irish Pubs they give old and crappy stale guinness to ignorant Americans. Like you need to meet someone and make freinds to get a real good beer. I know the person is a moron and liar so I figured it was a lie, but I needed to ask. Because I have before that rumour has it. The Guinness America gets is not the same as the Guiness in Ireland. Please answer to sooth my aching mind. Like the CRO-MAGS. "WE GOTTA KNOW"

So is this Urban Legend?

bombidol - 12-3-2007 at 10:00 AM

Its half urban legend half truth. They don't give away the shitty stuff to you guys, Its just about the distance travelled and the temperature etc.
Here, Guinness is brewed literally in the city centre and leaves from the factory on trucks so its crazy fresh when we drink it. When it arrives in other countries its been rolling around in a truck/plane/boat for god knows how many days and subjected to extreme highs and lows of temperature most likely. It IS different but not as extreme as what that dope said.

JawnDiablo - 12-3-2007 at 10:41 AM

I heard on the radio that somebody stole a whole truck full of Guinness last week....

bombidol - 12-3-2007 at 12:16 PM

They did. Wasnt me though. I swear. tronty thousand quid worth of booze, brave motherfucker just drove into Guinness and loaded the truck. Even waved at security as he left.

i definitely noticed a difference when i went to ireland, which normally i might chalk up to being in my mind. the reason i know it wasn't was because of this: we went to london first, and first thing i did was order a guiness at a pub. had big expectations for a difference and there was none at all. tasted great, like a guiness should, but no different than at home. so by the time we got to ireland, i had resigned myself to that being a myth and had no expectations at all. ordered myself one, and right away noticed the difference. nothing overly dramatic or anything, just fresher and smoother tasting. hard to explain, but definitely the best pint of guiness i've had (as were the 2nd, 3rd, 4th...)

JawnDiablo - 12-3-2007 at 01:44 PM

I could go for a nice pint of the aformentioned goodness right now!

Voodoobillyman - 12-3-2007 at 03:26 PM

I would definitely like to try this

bombidol - 12-3-2007 at 03:57 PM

My uncle was serving in Lebanon a few years back and he said the best Guinness he ever had was there. That COULD be cause there were bullets whizzin by his head so each one may have been his last.

That would definitely make a difference I'm sure. Shit, you really never know when you will buy it. We had a kid who was on the most secure base over here get hit by a stray bullet on his way to the gym, he died the next day of the wound. Fuckers were sprayin and prayin. I don't like this place. On a side note, I had mentioned that alcohol was banned here, I was wrong, it is sold thorughout the country, even during Saddams rule. Still a big time no go for soldiers though. I am definitely looking this red guiness up when Iget back to the states.

bombidol - 12-3-2007 at 04:41 PM

I have a feeling its not exported though man so you might be out of luck.

Yeah I've heard these many times and have even heard there's a big difference in the taste from Dublin to the outskirts of Ireland. But the people who I hear it from just say like you said, it's because of the trnasportation.

bombidol - 12-3-2007 at 05:54 PM

Well transport isnt a huge issue IN Ireland, as they are put on the same trucks that are used for transport in Dublin, They are just going to be on them a few hours longer which wouldn't make a huge difference. Its when you start putting em on boats for days and shit the flavor is going to suffer.

clevohardcore - 12-7-2007 at 11:05 AM

thanks for the info. It would be hard ot believe that Guiness have 2 factory's. I for good beer and 1 for bad American export/tourist beer.
