Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?

Quote:
If Michael Moore is America’s number one documentary filmmaker, then after releasing Super Size Me Morgan Spurlock definitely became number 2. Except while Moore makes more point of view movies, Spurlock’s work is a lot closer to being what we think of when throwing around the word “documentary”.

His next project is by far, his riskiest yet. Spurlock has finished his new movie Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?, in which he sets out to do what the United States government has apparently failed to do: Find Osama Bin Laden. The Weinstein Company bought the thing after seeing only 15 minutes of it at the Berlin Film Festival, and here’s where it gets really interesting. Rumor has it that Spurlock actually found Osama Bin Laden.

The film’s director of photography told SlashFilm that Morgan “definitely got the holy grail.” Since the movie is about him hunting Osama, that would make him the holy grail… wouldn’t it? For now though, everyone around the production is keeping things locked down.

The film is supposed to debut in Park City at Sundance this year, and since tomorrow is the deadline for them to notify people who have received press credentials and I still haven’t heard anything, I guess I won’t be able to report back on it. I’m sure someone more important than us will.

Whenever we all finally get around to seeing it, I can’t even begin to imagine the media madness this film will unleash if Morgan Spurlock actually found and hung out with Osama Bin Laden. It instantly raises a lot of important questions like... if mustachioed Morgan Spurlock can find him, don’t you have to assume the US government isn’t even trying?

defstarsteve - 12-5-2007 at 07:41 PM

if he found him,
I feel sorry for him.

because the government will lock his ass away quick as either a spy, or terrorist or some shit....

and if he found him, and if it's on film, good luck ever seeing it
with the way the adminstration is they will probably seize it, not only as evidence against morgan, but as clues to finding osama

but I hope he did and I hope it makes bush look like the chump he is...

^^^^^^^ tru dat. I like this guy and his movies. He goes all out.

This guy does, in fact, rule. But I'm skeptical as to the claim that he found Bin Laden, though it would be awesome to make Bush look like a chump like that as defstarsteve so suggested.

His show 30 days is great.

Voodoobillyman - 12-6-2007 at 04:14 AM

I just can't buy it. If he did find and speak with or get on film Bin Laden, there is alot to it that should be scrutinized in my opinion. Unfortunately it's not really Bush who looks like the chump, but the Special Operators who have been hunting this piece of shit for several years, although the administration can be directly blamed for impeding this hunt with bad decisions made in the beginning of the fall of the Taliban and the huint for Bin Laden. I am curious to hear more about this.

You really can't blame the specops dudes if they've been sent to look in the wrong place. This sounds really interesting, I hope its not just a bunch of hype. This could be a serious bombshell.

CR83 - 12-6-2007 at 12:44 PM

Personally, I don't think for a second he found that ass clown. I also realyl hope that he did.

I can't wait until Osama is proven to be dead. I hope he is completely embarassed too.

I think the point of him conducting a search would be to prove that the Government isn't really looking for UBL. Keep in mind that UBL didn't come out and claim responsibility for 9/11. Our government accused him of the act within 24 hours of the first plane hitting the WTC and he eventually came to accept responsibility. But the point of terrorism is to claim responsibility or else your act is pointless. Our government is in such cahoots with the House of Saud... and UBL is a son of the House of Saud essentially. Who in our government has anything to gain by finding him? He serves their purpose better by being unfound. Right now he is the boogey man. If he is caught then he is just a man.

Independent journalists have met with UBL since he was a wanted man (pre 9/11 but still wanted). It is possible that this guy found him. But I'm willing to bet that at best he has a camera crew in some village in Pakistan where the locals say they have seen UBL and he doesn't actually get to meet with him.

On the other hand, UBL's whole mission is to mock our government and show it isn't as powerful as the world thinks it is. What better way to do that then meet with a Hollywood filmmaker?

I'm waiting for his face to be splashed all over the news when there's a massive Republican poll slump or something. If they were gonna catch him, they did a long time ago and have him tucked away, otherwise they'll never catch him.

clevohardcore - 12-6-2007 at 08:51 PM

THey had a new tape recording of him that had up to date info. Supposedly he is still alive and the tapes have been authentic..

Murk - 12-6-2007 at 09:22 PM

if you've seen where people take his picture from the all of the "new Bin Laden" videos and put them next to each other, there are some definite visual discrepancies. the worst one is the video from Novemebr 2001 where they say he confesses to 9-11.

MikeCore - 12-6-2007 at 09:42 PM

He's dead. He died in Egypt, where he was born, like 7 years ago.

DaveMoral - 12-6-2007 at 11:41 PM

Awful lot of wagging the dog about bin Laden wouldn't you say?

upyerbum - 12-7-2007 at 11:15 AM
