Do you know someone who once one the lottery?

clevohardcore - 12-19-2007 at 08:31 PM

Did they blow it? Use it wisely?

I came to the conclusion that I really always deep inside thought. The lottery is a sham. the ones who win were set up to win by the lottery officials to make it seen like a legit service. Those ones who won were not lucky in the sense that there numbers genuinely came up. They were lucky in the sense that they were selected to win to use as props for evil thievery. I have spent wayyy to much money with no benefit. Other than the fact my new found conclusion will prevent me from spending more money on this sham. MARTIN ADKINS siad it best in one of his liner notes for the band PIGFACE. The lotter is just another tax on the poor.

My uncle won 50k about 15 years ago. There's been a big stink lately up here about the lottery.

IMHO I don't think the lottery is a conspiracy. It's just gambling. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. I'm not much of a gambler myself and I rarely ever play. The most I ever won was $40 on a scratch off.

really I have never met or know of anyone who had met anyone who had won a lottery, for more then a few hundred...

it's not a hard scam to fake, and on the big ones you throw out a fake ass picture every few weeks...
how hard is that...

but just about every state has weekly drawings for a million...ontop of the mega millions crap
that's 2600 new millionares a year,
not to mention all the mcdonalds contests, game shows and every other thing out there giving away a shit ton of money...

where are these people ?

A close friend of mine had a cousin win big. They bought a ranch home and cut themselves off from the world. Everyone from relatives to complete strangers would show up at there door asking for money.

I know a guy here who won a million. That's by far the biggest winner I know and I worked at a 7-11 when Texas first got the lotto/lottery. I've seen a LOT of small wins and even split a scratch off with a coworker a few weeks back that scored us 100 bucks to split, but that's the biggest I've ever won.

I have no problem with the lottery / scratch tickets, I just don't play them. Every once in a while I will grab a ticket with a spare dollar I have, more as a joke than anything.

BUT, scratch tickets hold a dear spot in my heart...
When I was living with my mom, struggling to find work, she was behind on rent, electric, and lost the cable and internet all due to her scratch ticket addiction. We also went most of that winter without heat in a REALLY cold New Hampshire appt. Any money I would make off of websites or graphis design I would give her for the bills and somehow, the bills were still not getting paid. So, I did a little "intervention" with her and went thru 4 days of trash we had (yes, only 4 days worth) and pulled out nearly $200.00 in losing scratch tickets. Also, need to take in account how many she plays in her car and in the store. So here we were, 1 1/2 - 2 months behind on rent, just barely keeping away from having out electricity shut off, no cable, internet, or even phone.

I confronted her with the "evidence" and she broke down crying. Stating she wouldn't do it again. Things were a little better since but I have moved out since then (almost 2 years ago) and she is again always behind on all her bills.

I think I mentioned this on here while it was all going on but thought I would share again.

Fun stuff.

i love to gamble, mostly craps, and surprising am up overall in my gambling career. it's never been a problem for me - i give myself a certain amount to spend, and when it's gone, it's gone. i also don't do it very often - once or twice a year in AC or occasionally vegas. i don't fuck with lotto. my step dad has won a hundred or two here or there, but nothing big. my grandparents won like $25k on slots once, but god knows they plowed more than that into em over the years.

^^^^^^^^^ DUDE, THAT IS EXACTLY MY POINT. WHERE THE FUCK ARE THESE SUPPOSED MILLIONAIRES?

And when the lottery reaches a peak to say 80 million then decreases back to 12 million you never hear of a winner. It jsut goes away every time. No one asks why and who if anyone ever won?

BDx13 - 12-20-2007 at 03:50 PM

most big winners probably try to stay underground.

as for finding out who won, it appears you have to go to the individual state's lotter site. for example:
http://www.coloradolottery.com/games/winners/winnerlist.cfm?...

NORTH CANTON... Yesterday she found $10 dollars, today she's a millionaire. Kristina K. Schneider of Akron won $1,000,000 on Magnificent Millions. She filed a claim in the North Canton regional office this morning.
The single mother of nine-year-old Janae said she would use her win to pay off bills and invest for college since she is a student. After mandatory federal and state withholding taxes totaling 31 percent, Schneider will receive $34,500 for the next 20 years.

“A customer came in and bought two Magnificent Millions tickets leaving one left on the roll. I tried to convince him to buy it but he said no,” she said. “It was the last ticket; I used the ten dollars that I found to buy it.”

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I bet that dude was pissed. This is the OHIO winners.

DEF-STEVE has a really good point about all the 'new' millionaires and where the hell are they?!?

I read a really good article somewhere about lotto winners and all the fucked up things that happen to them after they win. Forget where but it was some crazy shit. Orgies, murder, suicidies, overdoses, car accidents, and all kinds of bizarre acts of god. Alot of its a good example of the stereotype of poor people not knowing how to use money. These people who haven't had much in life win the lotto and just lose their fuckin minds. One lotto winner brought a suitcase with half a million in cash to a strip club all the time until someone robbed his ass. Ghetto spending mentality.

^^^^^^^^^ There was a good show on like Discovery or TLC or something about some people who one and what it did (or they) to themelves. It redeems the fac tthat most people are douches and you are smarter than most people. I have no idea why they would treat this as a problem.
