Here's one that has stuck with me over the years. It was written by some MRR writer during the late 80's. The quote isn't exact but here it is:

"There isn't anyone who's been punk for three minutes who hasn't complained about how the people who have only been punk for a minute-and-a-half have ruined everything."

Still rings true, especially if you substitite "hardcore" for "punk".
