cell phone and cases?

XHonusWagnerX - 1-9-2008 at 01:52 PM

what kind of cell phone and case do you have for your phone? I

m debating getting a case thats kind of expensive for my iPone. I dont want to spend the money, but Ive seen the case and its nice and very protective. I figure its worth spening $40 to protect a $400 phone.

BDx13 - 1-9-2008 at 01:56 PM

unless you buy something on the street, it seems like even the crappiest cases cost $30.
but you're talking about an iphone, so i'd definitely say spend it.

i got a crappy little case/belt clip for free with my phone, but i never use it. got a car charger too, and that i use.

I just ordered me an ISKIN REVO NIGHTHAWK case for my iphone....and I bet thats the one your talking about getting Honus. http://www.iskin.com/revo_overview.html I bought mine from a company on ebay for $29.99 with free shipping, thats $10 cheaper then on their website. It is suppose to be here today.
Before that I had one of the clear hard plastic cases for it,which was good, except for the belt clip sucked...and it would easily slide out of your pocket.
I also have a leather case that protects the phone great, but it's too much trouble when making and answering the phone.

The one you just ordered is similar to what I have no actually. Mine is a black rubber thing made by a company called INCASE. Heres a picture....

The one Im talking about getting is actually made by a company called OTTERBOX, www.OtterBox.com and its $50 on teh website, but cheaper on ebay. Its expebsive but looks pretty bad ass... the screen is covered by a scratch resistant plastic that still allows the touch screen to work. Here it is....

It also comes with a belt clip....

I got a Razor, and my "case" is my pocket.

Spoiler - 1-9-2008 at 06:46 PM

my iskin revo just arrived.....it has a plastic cover that protects your screen, and the touch screen still works great with it....it's called a privacy sheild,it is suppose to keep people standing beside you from seeing what your doing on the phone. There is another hard plastic cover that snaps over your screen when the phone isn't being used, and it easily comes off and snaps onto the back when your ready to use it.The rest is made of thick rubber with cool grips on the side. The case is also coated with anti-microbial protection that helps inhibit the growth of bacteria.
so far,I like this one much better then the others I've seen.

Ive only had mine a couple of weeks too, but its not jailbroken. I dont actually know anything about ANY of that stuff so if anyone knows any good resources let me know!!

The only thing I did figure out how to do is listen to Sirius online (it works with XM radio too) on it.

Thanks man... What kind of aps are you downloading? Have you run into any problems? Once its 'jail broken' can you restore it to factory settings if you needed to?

BDx13 - 1-10-2008 at 05:48 PM

iphone people, please understand that two things will happen once you jailbreak your phone:

1. The next time you run the software update from apple, AT BEST the jailbreak will be removed and factory settings will be restored. But the possibility also exists that your phone will be bricked. In fact, you may need to unjailbreak it yourself before attempting to update.

2. You will be much, much more susceptible to viruses, trojans, etc. A proof of concept was executed and spread around jailbroken phones just this past week. This particular trojan didn't do any harm, but it was written by 11 year old.

from what I understand, you can restore it. I have downloaded camera pro, that lets you zoom in and out with your camera and change other settings - Last FM mobile scrobbler, that lets you listen to your last FM stations - a pdf viewer - a program that lets you send songs, files and mms - iRadio, that lets you listen to tons of stations - and games like blackjack.
There's lots of other free downloads that you can try. They are very easy to install and uninstall.I have had no problems so far....but now BD has me a little nervous. But if you read through the website and fourm I gave you the link too,you can find out all you need to know.
