I think I have a good idea for a spinoff topic
What dictates a THRASH, METAL, DEATH, GRIND, SPEED, BLACK, NOISE, THECHNICAL etc sound or style?
List any more you got. I get it, I just think it would be funny to see our descriptions.
THRASH- nonstop blasts of constant riffs
METAL- more harmony, but
DEATH- evil shit like that bass player from SOD/ Nuclear Assault plays as side projects.
GRIND- thrash but with more treble
SPEED- thrash but even faster
BLACK- death metal that is more creepy
NOISE- psychotic music
TECHNICAL- nerd metal
Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

THRASH - fast in your face non stop fucking metal
POWER METAL - the gayer side of metal. big hair, big vocals, big solos. Big.
DEATH - Blastbeats and terrible vocals from the guts, dismemberment and other fun topics.
GRIND - Thrash + Death
SPEED - Too fast for thrash, almost to the point it doesn't even sound like music sometimes
BLACK - Blastbeats with better than death metal vocals from the throat, high pitch and much better guitar riffs and beats than death with usually
better lyrical content.
NOISE - Not even worth calling music, the fucking dubstep of metal
TECHNICAL - Like power metal mixed with jazz for all the new age hipster douchebags
A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s
a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal
favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

I disagree with the Powermetal one because Judas Priest is like Power Metal I think.

They'd be Heavy Metal which is less orchestral and powerful than power metal.

I have some different definitions but I don't feel like typing.
When one says Grind, I still think of Napalm Death's Scum and From Enslavement, and Repulsion, and Terrorizer.
I'll follow up later after I am drunk and stuffed with BBQ delights.
I promise

I disagree with Power Metal because "big hair" is in no way en vogue in Power Metal anymore. Priest, Maiden, they are the proto-types for Power Metal.
Power Metal is defined mostly by lots and lots of leather, swords, dragons and songs about valor, honor, glory etc and Tolkien. That's Power Metal.
And it's not gay, it's nerdy... and it's awesome!
I'd rather listen to Power Metal than most other forms of Metal these days.
Manowar is in a class all their own. The so-called True Metal. They resent being called Metal of any other sort.
