Bank fees

So I bank at Chase and for the most part have no complaints.

BUT, every month, money gets deposited in a separate Chase savings account that's set up through my union that's meant to be like a vacation fund type deal. It's a couple bucks an hour off my check that goes right to this account. Kind of pointless but whatever.

I transfer money from this account every time it's been deposited into my regular savings...simply because it doesn't make sense to me to have money spread all over. So basically it's moving from one Chase account to another.

Minimum daily balance is $300...I never dip below that...to avoid fees. The catch...every month I get a $4 fee for being below $300...

How far below you say? Why $296...because they keep charging me a $4 fee for being at $296 instead of $300...because they charged me the fee the previous month.

When I called today to bitch at them about this...I asked what do I need to do keep $304 in there as a buffer to avoid this fee?

"That would work."

I had a similar experience with a bank years ago.
I said FU and immediately cancelled my payroll from being deposited to the account.
they wanted me to come in and sign something I said no.
They continued to withdrawl fees for being "below balance requirements" for something like 2 years.
It went to negative $210.

eventually they went out of business and I got a letter saying my account was closed.
ass holes.

all of this was becasue an ATM let me over withdrawl on my account to the tune of 7 cents.
I was under the impression that you could not even do that, being if the money is not there, it will say can not complete transaction or some crap.....their excuse was, oh it was on a Sunday....Fuck You Fucker

I recently moved over to Chase from another bank.

This other bank wouldn't let me close my checking. They said IF some automatic payment went through after I closed my account, it would automatically re-open the account and create a negative balance to which I'd receive fees...which pissed me off even more about this bank and was pretty much the nail in their coffin for any future dealings.

So rather than deal with arguing with some 16 year old bank teller...I left $20 in there and walked away. Yesterday I got charged a 9.95 fee on my $20 because I hadn't had at least 15 transactions the previous month...needless to say I went in there and had them close the thing permanently.

All while the teller wanted to know why I was leaving...and how they could get me to stay, lol.

I do all my banking at Citizens and I like it a lot. I have a bunch of accounts because I'm OCD and I save money/budget in weird ways (but they work for me).

A few years ago I had one problem where I knew I had free checking and all of a sudden I saw a $18 fee on my checking. I call the 800# and they check it out and put me on hold. While I'm on hold I go back and look and I found 7-8 of these charges that I never saw because I never really balanced my check book (I do now!). When the operator came back she said she was refunding the money and I said, but I found more. She said she had too and that all 3 months would be credited. I said, well I found 8 of them and she said they were only allowed to refund 3 months of charges.

I got a manager on the phone and said if they didnt refund every penny I would close all my accounts. She kept saying they couldnt and that it was my fault for not checking my statements. I said "Excuse me for assuming that you were not stealing my money" she said we were not stealing anything. I said "Did you have permission or just cause to take that money out of my account" and when she said, no, I said "Well thats stealing!"

Since then I got to the bank ever week cause I hate dirrect deposit and I have a really good relationship with the tellers/manager at the branch I go to and have had no problems at all.

I had the minimum balance thing with Bank of Queensland and dropped them after 1 month. I moved to NAB who had no account keeping fees at all. Fuck paying your bank to hold the money when it's mandatory now to have an account. Nobody pays with cash any more.

Speaking of fucking scummy banks - http://www.news.com.au/money/banking/ultimate-insult-sacked-...

Westpac made something like $6.8bn last year and along with other banks are firing a whole lotta people. In this case replacing them with Indians. Here I am thinking you can't fire someone without a valid performance reason given our HR laws, you certainly can't be made redundant if the job still exists. But then being told to train them?

I would say fuck off. There's no way I would train these fucking people taking over my job. What are they gonna do fire me? Too late. I'd bring a baseball bat to work and leave it on my desk.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

So basically they charge you for being AT the minimum balance. Ridiculous.
