Ramallah fans

Was listening to Kill A Celebrity again this morning, noticed during A Day In The Life there's super slowed down words being said, I just can't remember which part of the song it was in. I think chorus.

Anyone have any idea what the words are?

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

It's during the long fade in before the chorus, just listened again. One of them starts around 1:28. I don't have anything that can filter out tracks, but there's definitely a slowed down vocal track.

I read the news today oh boy
about a lucky man who made the grade
and though the news was rather sad
well I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph

He blew his mind out in a car
he hadn't noticed that the lights had changed to a shade of gray
A crowd of people stood and stared
they'd seen his face before
nobody was really sure if he was from the House Of Lords

I saw a film today oh boy
the US army had just dropped some peace on the Middle East
a crowd of people turned away
but I just had to look
having read the book

I'd love to turn you on...

Woke up, got out of bed
wiped the blood off of my head
found my way upstairs and I did a shot
and looking up I noticed I was late
found my coat, grabbed my hat
I made the bus in seconds flat
I found my way upstairs and I did a snort
and somebody spoke and I went into a dream

I read the news today oh boy
three thousand holes at New York's ground zero
and though the holes were rather small
we had to count them all
now we know how many holes it takes to make the towers fall

I'd love to turn you on...

It's when the line "I'd love to turn you on..." come up, he holds turn for ages and the cymbals come in, there's something being said. I have no idea if its just the same line replayed and slowed down or not.

I think it's the same line slowed down, but I could be wrong.

I hear what you're referring to. It's either a sample meant to give it the psychadelic vibe of The Bealtes or it's actual words. Knowing Rob it could be some line from Walt Whitmas or Edgar Allan Poe or something. But when I listen closely it almost sounds like he's saying "You're interested in why I do dope. I'm interested in why you don't." The last word is either don't or dope. Since the Sugar Plum Fairy count in was a slang for a drug dealer that the Beatles used as a count in for one of their early takes then a drug reference wouldn't surprise me at all.

The only person that would know is Rob. All of the Ramallah recordings were a session drummer and then he did everything else with the exception of the guest vocals by Jake Bannon on the EP. No one else was there for the sessions. I'll text him and ask him.

Rob said he has no idea what it said. He said that section is meant to sound like a full on assault of sounds and there are backwards vocals and all sorts of shit going on in there. It could say anything. It might even be backwards.

That pretty much sums it up haha, it's definitely a full on assault, there's so much happening there it's nearly impossible to break it down and peel back the layers.

Thanks for checking though :)
