they most likely get overwritten. hacks include a change to either just the html/php file(s) or the html/php file(s) AND the database. when you
upgrade, you overwrite the old html/php files with new ones, thus removing any hacks you've added. if the hack included a modification to the DB,
that will still exist, but there won't be anywhere in the code that calls that data.
a lack of forethought burned me on this same thing with the thorp board. now, i'm only running cosmetic hacks. Upon installation, the 'Listening
to:' feature is actually 'Mood:' and there is no place on the homepage to update it. Those are just two little hacks.
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.
