Scotish Festival

I worked it yesterday. It was great. i never been to one before but I had a blast. I am not Scotish but I am Irish and I am on the lookout for my newfound roots. I never celebrated shit about my heratige. I laughed at others who did it becasue I thought "I am American". I had nothing to be proud of. I aknowledged a history that began in the 1700's. Not thinking about where my family came from before America. Irish and German. I inspired but the Scotish heritage to seek my Irish and German heritage. If you ahve been to these you know what I'm talking aobut. If you haven't then take your family or go by yourself. Its like school only you can drink beer and wear a skirt errrrr I mean kilt. :P

I will call around to find the nearest Irish and German festivals this summer and fall. I want to know about wear I came from. I think this si stemming from a African American Lit class I am taking. The RPofessor knows everythting about his ansestory and he's African American. I am Irish and German American and I don't know shit about my past. I want to rep who I am. Not what I am.

- If that makes any sense to you. I have no idea, but for some reason it does to me.

I never read your posts anyhow.

If you're looking for an amazing Irish Festival check out the Miluakee WI Irish fest. It happens every August and is one of the biggest and best in the world. I was guitar teching for a band there last year and was blown away.

There was an Irish Fest going on here in Philly at Penn's Landing this weekened. More power to ya, just please don't get getting IRISH PRIDE tattoos an shit like that. I wonder what people in other countries think of Americans who do that. Not that I care either way anyway.

I thought that about bands from America doing irsh inspired music ala DROPKICK MURPHYS and I am not sure if that dude from Floggin AMry and The Tossers are from Ireland or not. I think they are American born and raised. those bands jam though but I think Irish people have to scoff at it a little. Are the Chieftains from Ireland or are they American born? I got to check theri stuff out. I hear good things.

This band called THE NEW BARLEYCORNS played and the singer had the best quote for most any other band I ever heard. He is from Ireland but moved to Cleveland about 5 years ago. While talking about a Irish band playing the Scotish festival he said. "Me Mum is Irish and Me Dad is Scotish. Which means I love to drink, but I don't like to pay for it."

That dude had some other ones, but that one really got everyone going. :P

Al Barr (bruisers/dropkick) said he is like PART Scottish. They still play bad ass music though. I think Ken Kasey is one of the only original members of the band. Mike Mcloglan's the original singer and does great stuff w/Street Dogs though.
