BD- A question about a bands record sales
If a band sells 150,000 copies is that very good? I mean I hear all the time bands like Green Day, Depeche Mode and etc selling over 1 or 2 million
records of any release. but when a band like say this WHITE TRASH we are talking about in another thread brags about selling 150,000 copies? That
don't sound too good but they are bragging about it like it was a good thing.
I remember Earth Crisis bragging about selling 120,000 copies of DESTROY THE MACHINES when it was released. And Victory was hyping it like it was the
biggest selling hardcore record ever. Same with HATEBREED when SATISFACTION came out.
Does a band actually live well and make serious coin selling that many or that little amount of records?
I understand bands like DEPECHE MODE and others have contracts that benefitr them and most HARDCORE bands do not but lets assume they are getting
deals like they are now. The hardcore bands that is.
Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

The fact is that in todays music market 150,000 units is fucking huge. Certified gold in Canada is 50,000 units. If the band didn't owe a tonne of
money to the record label than 150,000 units should put a fair amount of cash in their pockets.
I would love to sell 50,000 units.

It's a sad thing when Neglect only sells 1500 cd's, while some of the worst shit I've ever heard sells millions.
