I just organized my cd's somewhat

I have roughly 700. Damn thats alot. I am pretty selective on what stays. I usually sell off the shit that doesn't do it for me. Needless to say these all did something for me at one point of my life. I can still think of stuff I want to get but 700 cd's of stuff that ment something to me is alot of music.

Now before you go off and say I got 5,000 keep in mind a flood ruined a huge chunk of this cd collection along with memorable 7"'s and vinyl records.

I'm still trying to save up enough money to buy new jewel cases & a large storage unit to put my 700-800 CD's in from the move down here. I just put the CD's in CD-R spindles of 50 and packed up the booklets with them.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

I think I got rid of a KMFDM cd once, I bought it, took it home, listened to 45 seconds of it, and sold it shortly after the shop refused to take it back :D I sold a Beastie Boys cd once too but it was a new one & sucked. I've kept everything else.

I got rid of some cd's by selling them on ebay or at local record store.

I recently went through some of the piles of cds I have laying around (for lack of proper storage room) and instead of trying to sell my cds I just tossed a bunch of them. I have something over 500 cds and Im sure 200 of those are in piles around the living room. We've just run out of room.

I used to be really anal about mine being in alpha order, but I ran out of space in my racks so there are a few piles that are not organized at all. I think I have about 1400 CDs

I have seven 3 inch thick binders with cd sleeves. Each sleeve holds 8 cd's. I probally have 2000 to 2500 cd's. They are in alphabetical order. It was a fucking nightmare when i organized all that shit. But now it's easy to keep up to date. I did the same thing with my DVD's. It takes a lot less space to store now. I used to have to shelving units full of cd cases now I have one shelfof one unit. I packed all the cases in boxes and stored them in the garage.

I rip the songs, burn data discs and then re-sell the Cds back.

If I were to say how many "records" I have......maybe 7,000.......

I have 1000+ cd's, all in alphabetical order, and each band has their albums in chronological order. I'm seriously anal about that shit.

Between my girlfriend and I we have nearly 1000 dvd's. I have six shelves that cover two walls in my apartment to hold all the cd's and dvd's.

Those binders make me nervous, a friend used to keep them like that...someone walked off with his entire music collection under each arm.

i think i have about 7 or 800 CDs organized loosely by genre (hardcore, rock & metal are all lumped together, then like jazz, classical, drum & bass, etc), then alphabetically, then chronologically. vinyl is down to about 600 pieces. i only keep the stuff i really want. if i don't listen to it, it's out.

it's been a long time since i've thinned out the cd collection. i haven't been buying many cds in recent years, so those i have bought i knew would be keepers. cds don't seem to have much value, they either are given away or taken to the local used record store. selling a 'lot' of cds on ebay can work out well, too. vinyl sales, obviously, are almost exclusively ebay.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.
