sleep terror.
Anyone as a parent have to witness it? It is stressing me out and worrying about my son. He wakes up around 10 or 11 everynight for the 2 weeks or so
and flips out like somehting is wrong. And cries or moans for a while then goes back to sleep. It really is worrying me and was wondering if some of
you have or did deal with it before. They say on BABYCENTER.com that it is completely normal and something many kids deal with at and around the age
of 2-3.

sleep terror = let them go becasue they are still sleeping. Will not remember the incident.
nightmare = go get them becasue they are scared and will remember what is going on.

I suffered from severe night terrors when I was younger. I never remembered anything the next day. My mom would try and wake me up but was never
able to. I wouldn't be in a severe state and my mom would have to hold onto me and ride it out. It rarely happened, but when it did, it was bad. I
had that up until I was about 13 or so. By that point they knew I'd be fine and ignored me.

Ya they say you grow out of it and its nothing to worry about. Its just heartwrenching when your a parent to witness it. My son is only waking up but
not awake. He cries and then like moans. Its really scary. He does that for like 20 minute sor so. At first we were waking him up but the doctors
advise against it becasue the children don't remember it so don't make it worse by waking him up when he's hysterical. Then he will think somehtings
wrong and get really scared.

As I got older mine got worse. Thankfully it only happened maybe once a year. But I would yelling at people and moving around. My mom said once
when I was about 8 or 9 she heard me yelling and I was trying to climb the wall that my bed was against. I was trying to get away from something in
my dream. She told me what it was because I apparently yelled it out a few times but I can't remember now. One time it happened in a hotel when I
was on vacation with my dad and stepmom, and people in the room next to us called the police because they thought somebody was being murdered.

I have only seen it in elderly people with Alzhimers/dementia. I take care of my gram who gets them in spurts. nothing for a couple months, the a few
over the next couple weeks, then nothing for awhile.
It's at times very hard to deal with. She can be very abusive, and not understand anything going on around her. that sweet little ol' lady has beat
the shit out of me.

Alzhimers is terrible. Very very sad. Best wishes with Gram and your family.

Thanks.
it's a struggle, but still well worth her being home with me than the alternative. Some day she may go to a home, but not till I can no longer handle
it.
