norton antivirus protection question

I have been trying ot scan with NORTON for 5 hours now. and every time I run it it stops around 93,000 scanned. What the fuck would cause NORTON to slow down and do this? Its been like this for nearly 4 days now.

Disable any other applications in the system tray, screen saver, power saver mode etc. Any program disrupting Norton usually fucks it.

I use AVG, it's free and I've never had the problems like that which I used to get with Norton.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

I let it go over night. Then in the morning changed my screensaver of all things. Then ran spysweeper, and then NORTON and finish with no issues. That is a good thing but I quickly remembered why I thought about getting a MAC.

I don't really know anything about computers. What exactly is the difference between a Mac and a PC?

pc: windows can be pretty buggy. there's something like 200 new viruses every week targeted at windows. tens of thousands of programs to choose from for whatever you can think of and more.

mac: generally more reliable than a pc. small market share so not attractive enough (yet) for creators of viruses. mac owners usually don't bother with antivirus software. fewer programs to choose from but still quite a lot. way overpriced though.

from all accounts i've heard norton antivirus is a piece of shit. avg is a good alternative. others good ones that aren't free are nod32 and kaspersky.

i have to dispute your last point, ken. unfortunately, the notion that macs are overpriced or even cost more than pcs is an antiquated one.

generally speaking, the off the shelf price of many macs have come down and are comparable with that of pcs. the more important consideration, however, is total cost of ownership. there have been countless articles over the past few years about how consumers get a better deal with macs because the software they come with is actually useful and how corporations are spending less on software licensing and desktop support staff.

here's an interesting one from just this week: click here for the Computer World article. the title is "Mac switch revisited: An enterprise PC shop's move to Apple isn't as easy as expected". interesting, the problem they were having was that their employees and customers got all worked about about the move to Macs because they thought the company was wasting money. They had to hold special meetings to explain how this move would actually save the company $1.8M over three years.

"there was a perception that the equipment was much more expensive than traditional Windows PCs and that we were purchasing Lamborghini-level equipment with the company's profits,"

Ok, since I've installed AVG and received a Windows Vista update, I had something really weird happen. All of my icons, text, web browsing, etc. has shrunk in size so everything is smaller and it strains my eyes. I've tried adjusting the resolution but that doesn't work. Anyone had this problem with Vista? I've found people via Google experiencing the same problem but no solution?

BD, i guess that's a valid point for most people; i hadn't considered the licenses. Personally i have a home-built pc and only use free or pirated software so for me pcs are cheaper.

But is there any difference in quality or anything?
