Ok. Help me figure this out.

I'm gonna start off by saying, I dont like Metal in Hardcore. I just dont. Stuff like Throwdown and Hatebreed kill me. I've stood by this for many years. And still do. But I gotta say, I do like certain bands and a lot of people consider them a Metal Hardcore but I dont see it too much. For example the new Terror. I like it. But it doesnt really sound metal to me. Just sounds like Hardcore like what cro mags and subzero used to do. Even AF with one voice had metal hints, but it was nowhere near actually being metal. I dont know. I may be reading too much into it but its been on my mind since I did this interview for a zine. I analyzed my answers and its been buggin me.

I have a formula. Its not 100% strict but its served me well over the years. Once you hear a solo its metal. So...

Hardcore + Guitar solo = Metal

I think that a lot of the bands that are labled 100% hardcore have metal eliments.

I think that the last few AF records have a metal influenced sound. withe the exception of the first 7" I think that all of the Madball stuff has a metal sound. I think that sound of the Cro-Mags stuff has a metal sound. Im not saying that they are metal/hardcore... Im just saying that they dont have as straight ahead hardcore sound as Negative Approach, Minor Threat, Negative FX, DYS, Judge etc.

Just my 2 cents.

I like the metal and hc crossovers which I know is a big "no no" on here but I'm not too worried. I love metal and always will. I just wonder when metal became a bad thing?

I pass on Throwdown now because I didn't like Pantera the first time they came out.

I like metal too. And I like metal hardcore or whatever the fuck its called. But I think you can be hard as fuck without going all the way into metal. I think a lot of bands are doing it to get on the big tours with slipknot and all that shit. which is crap.

Alot of the most metally bands are all wimpy nerds anyways.

I can't say that I have ever heard an AF record that didn't some somewhat metallic to me. CFA isn't straight ahead hardcore... it's a thrash record. Play that next to an early Anthrax record and the only real major difference is the vocals and an absence of solos... wait, no, AF has solos too.

CFA was where AF added the metal sound, likely because Peter Steele wrote the record. United Blood and Victim In Pain are straight hardcore.

If I like it, then I like it. If I don't I don't.
I don't agree with the guitar solos part cause Poison Idea has leads on plenty of the material they did and nobody's gonna call them a metal band.
Warzone also had leads.
I'll just say I do not in any way enjoy the new Madball, Agnostic Front, Hatebreed, or half of what I hear these days.
They all sound very metal.
But whatever.
I saw Madball a few months ago and they were pretty awesome, regardless if I don't like the last 2 cds.
I'm getting nowhere on this.
who cares what I say anyway.
