Too much, too soon: 20 respectable rock and rap acts that peaked with debut albums
The Onion's serious media companion, The AV Club has put together an interesting list of artists who never managed to top the acclaim and influence of
their debut albums. Leading the list is Rage Against the Machine who single-handedly made rap/hardcore into a genre. The list makes some interesting
assessments with a few classic CBGB acts in the list like Richard Hell and The Voidoids, Television as well as some controversial choices like naming
Black Flag's Damaged.
More recent, but less controversial choices include The Strokes, Sunny Day Real Estate and Taking Back Sunday.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

I agree with some of those, but there are a lot that I dont know anywhere near enough about the bands to comment on.
The Black Flag one is kind of funny because usually when ever Black Flag is mentioned in the media they talk like Damage was the first record and
Rollins was the only singer. Well.... actually thats what that article is about isnt it? Bands that never went past the hype of their 'first lp'? Oh
well... either way I think I kind of agree that Damage was the high point for the band even though I like the later stuff too.
