Bringing back an american classic?

Apparently Studebaker is developing and soon to be manufacturing new vehicles. All of which will be powered by a diesel/electric hybrid motor.

also better mileage and better for the environment. all the better stuff is always more expensive. it received a price purge after the whole influx of diesel cars hit the market. it USED to be cheaper.

I think Diesel is pretty close to $5 a gallon.
How many miles is the average diesel pick up good for?
I know deisel doesnt burn fuel when they just idle.
The Torque some of them things put out is incredible.
One from ford is over 500 ft lbs

My friends got a dodge ram 2500 turbo diesel double cab with some aftermarket performance parts that gets 28 mpg cruising and about 20-22 with the pedal to the floor. Can hit 90+ just going up an onramp. He got it used for 15k and put in about 2k in aftermarket parts. A diesel engine will easily last more then 300 thousand miles. After I get my old ford done I'm planning on getting a nice big diesel.
