Yeah we just switched over to 08 because thats the base program for the quickpen 3d stuff. 08 is the biggest jump changewise acad has taken since
maybe 2000. lots of differences.

getting my company to get new stuff is quite the endeavor...so we'll probably have 08 untill 2014. the only reason they upgraded this time is because
they needed it for the 3d duct/pipe packages. it is pretty sweet though, have the twin widescreen monitors now, feel like im at mission control.

What are you running for your pipe/ductwork? We run CadWorx and its the best modelling software I've seen yet.
Congrats on the new job Dave, I kinda' cringed when you told me you were detailing rebar, but I didn't want to piss in your cornflakes.
Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where
cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?

Quickpen for the duct/pipe. There were several different branches of quickpen over the past 15-20 years mostly DOS based but the past 5 or so years
they've put the application into ACAD to be a bit more current/user friendly. It's a nice package.
I don't know about the piping programs being better one over the other as all pipe is pretty much stock items you're welding/bolting together, but
most duct packages suck. They're basically for drawing 3D design/cartoons. Which is fine if you want to impress a client/general contractor with a 3D
model to use in navisworks, but most of their limitations in duct fittings prohibit an actuall sheet metal contractor from doing decent shop drawings
that you could list duct off of and install without the foreman having to consolidate items to save fittings and money.
There actually another 3D ducting package I'll have access to in the next year or so through the Sheet Metal International. Sheet Metal workers are
pretty much the only trade union whose contract states the detailers are to be union, most shops are mixed union and non because we usually can't
supply competant guys but they're trying to reclaim the market by issuing the program to sheet metal workers for free to install on top of your
companies ACAD application. We'll see how that goes.
