What do you think of "fair tax"?

I think it sounds great, but I need to look into it more. On the surface it seems fair, equal and logical. The only problem I see is that government will not like it simply because it will cause more people to really think before they buy something. It may curb spending a bit simply because people may not want to pay the taxes on "want" things rather than the "need" things.

Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

the reason it wont work for the poor
is the poor save less then the rich, while the rich save and invest so much more in comparison.

the poor end up buying more goods and paying more taxes then they do now...
how many rich people shop every week at walmart?
who make it the nations largest retailer?
walmart make thier money on thousands of tons of small purchases a day.

the only thing righ people know about walmart is how much stock they own.

and there will never be a "fair tax"

and I'm not saying a flat tax/fair tax plan might not be better then what we have now, but there will still be deductions in your checks to pay for unemployment, social security, and anything they can sneak in there

40 million foreign tourists a year will become American taxpayers as consumers here.

taxation without representation?
didn't we have a war about that or something
