SHUTDOWN/INHUMAN Summer Tour 1998!

Last night while going through a box with tons of flyers and photos I have in my apartment, I came across and old notebook. In this notebook was my tour dairy from the Inhuman/Shutdown USA tour, which literally began 10 yrs ago today on July 8th 1998!

2 bands, 8 guys, just under 4 weeks in a 15 passenger rented van with equipment and luggage, no trailer hitch! We did get this awful roof rack type thing which dented the hell out of the van and wound up costing us a lot of extra $$$, but I digress….

We went from Brooklyn to Cali (1 or 2 dates in Canada) and played 20 something shows and had a hell of a good time.

I will write much more on this tomorrow and beyond, but I was curious to see if anyone reading this from out of the NY area was at any of these shows???? 10 years is a LONG ASS TIME in Hardcore, but I have a feeling some of you are still around….

Cheers

Mike Inhuman

98 was the end of my mini-hiatus from hardcore.
96-98, when i first moved to nyc, i was going to more bars and bigger concerts, and wasn't paying as much attention to HC at the time.
it was a sad, lonely phase, that, clearly, led to thorp records shortly there after.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

Ddi you guys play the in CLEVO it was a club called symposium I beleive it was actually LAKEWOOD OHIO. Our bassplayer had a band caled SIX FEET DEEP. It was there last show and they opened for SHUTDOWN. Other bands were on the bill and I believe it was more autumn 97 not 98, but I may be wrong. Cause 98 was when we started. It was short lived though. Whatever the case the show was good and i was superfucking hammered.

According to my notebook, there was one show in Ohio, in Cinci @ a place called "Club Slayer"...which was some dudes house! Hot and dirty as hell, but a good time nonetheless!
It was the last show of the tour on July 31st 1998.

Inhuman did play in Clevo in 1997 with All Out War, Ascension and Overcast.

Other interesting things about the tour in 1998:
- one of the shows in Cali was @ a Taco Restaurant
- one of the shows in Cali was with E Town Concrete
- when we were in Reno NV, we stayed @ a dude who was in 7 SECONDS house, his name was Chris.

I hate ascension and I was at that show with ALL OUT WAR and ascension. That was at The PHANTASY nightclub I believe.

I saw Shutdown twice. Once when they opened for the Cro-Mags, and another show they opened but I can't remember who the other band was.

I liked Shutdown musically, but vocally they were annoying.
