I'm baaaaaaa-ack

Hey guys. Just checking in. Don't know how much I'll be on just yet, but I just made it to the Portland area.

Was worried cuz I hadn't heard from a dude about work and then I just checked my email and the dude told me what he wants to pay me and stuff. So I got a job already. Cool.

Went through the Badlands and Black Hills in South Dakota. Then Yellowstone.... awesomeness. Just sheer awesomeness.

Road trips suck because of driving. Glad I'm not in a band.

I start Monday. Dude is provinding me with a truck and paying for the gas. That's the shit!

I got some picks in the Badlands and I think I might have been wearing my Thorp Warriors shirt.

Yellowstone was awesome except for all the tourists. Seriously... people ruin everything. Dozens of cars stopped on the side of the road to take pictures of a couple elk just chilling in some tall grass. Wish I could have just stayed there for a week camping and hiking.

dave - my wife wants to know what you vegans found to eat on the drive. were there sufficient options, or did you bring your own?

BD, never underestimate the power of Wal-Mart!

My dad had this atlas that had the locations of every Wal-Mart in the country and we'd be sure to stop at one when we needed to resupply. Those Wal-Mart Supercenters have an alright selection of vegetarian/vegan stuff. Plus we stocked up pretty well before we left.

My dad has a fifth wheel camper... so we did all our own cooking. No need to visit outside eating establishments.

while there, did you take the opportunity to 'camp' in the walmart parking lot?

No, not on the way to Oregon. My parents are doing that on the way back home though, I think. We had reservations in KOAs across the country. Which, really, isn't that much different. Just a dirt parking lot for RVs with a pool and a playground.
