I don't think its racist to get in an argument over the fact you can't understand what the fuck he's saying. Met white people that I had not clue what they were saying. As long as you didn't start insulting him because of his race I see no problem.

no I have done that in so many words. I said something to the efect of I can't understand what you are saying. ..............NO I still don't understand you........................NO.no. NO I still ahve no idea what you are saying.......................What? .................What?

And so on. It was fucking annoying and yes it has to do with some really fucking serious shit. Like credit. FUcking unbelievable. The crazy thing is she transferreed me to yet another person I had no idea what the said most of the time. I was neverous as hell after every single time I spoke to them. Wondering if something would get fucked up or not.

Ive had the same problem. I had a computer problem a few years ago so I called Dell. I went through the automated system which probably took 10 minutes then I was on hold for literally an hour and a half. I finally get someone on the phone and I cant understand him. No I'm not very computer savy to begin with so when someone that I cant understand is saying things that I would have had a hard time understanding to begin with, its a problem. I kept asking for him to transfer me to someone else. I apologized and explained that I couldnt understand him and he just barrled on through his 'script'. Eventually I gave up and hung up.

I manage a call center and we get all sorts of racist callers. Not being able to understand a person is one thing.... we have plenty of natural born Americans here that people can't understand because they mumble or something. The racism comes in with the person's reaction. In other words, it depends what you said. There's no harm in asking to speak to another agent.

I know that its probably not a great paying job, but I would think that companys that are hiring people to call other people on the phone would look for somewhat clear and understandable voices.

India is one location most credit card companies are using. They have schools to train people specifically how to talk. Howver its not supposedly a "formal" language class. Its like a crashcourse in English lingo.

India is a very popular place for call centers. My understanding of it is that Communications is a big deal over there and the people that handle the calls are very well educated and its a prestigious job. Of course, I've never been there so I don't know that first hand.

My bank's call center is based out of India and I never would have known if the agent hadn't told me.

Some people accuse our reps here of being in a foreign country. We have some people with accents because this is a decent paying job that anyone of any background can do if they act professionally and can think. So sometimes a caller will get one of our reps with an accent and go into a tirade about us being outsourced and stuff. It's kind of funny.

I don't think that's racist man. I think it would be racist if you started saying shit to the dude because he was Indian or Arab that had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that you can't understand half of what he's saying about some shit that's got serious impact on your life.

Calling dudes like "sandn*****" over it would be racist. Just saying "dude, I can't understand you you'll get the money within a week. Stop fucking bothering me." I do that to people of all sorts on the phone. Ghetto heads calling, country heads calling. Doesn't matter.

Being that Canada is the most PC country in the world you run into this problem every single day. From restaurant drive-thru's to government offices, everywhere you go you have to deal with people who have horrible language skills.

Our call center is in Adelaide and we have a few Indians & Africans working here, also some Eastern Europeans, some have been living here over 10 years. They have thick accents and a few times you get the hicks in the outback who refuse to speak with them.

Telstra, the primary phone company here has half their workers in India, I call them a few times a week or they call us regarding faults and shit.

It's cheaper to get a call center up & running in India than North America or Australia. They have a massive workforce so no shortage of staff and there's a lot of people looking for work. India's population is massive in a small area.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

that shit drives me fucking nuts. customer service provided by someone who can't speak the language. it has nothing to do with race for me, a simple matter of communication is all. anyone who has experienced it can tell you how frustrating an experience it can be.

wanting someone to speak clear English is not racist at all, since English is a language, not a race.

this type of stuff happens all the time in everyday life in LA.

what kills me is when i tell someone i don't understand them, they get real pissed off, as if they're speaking clearly. they are not. this happens all the time. i've almost gotten into fights because of it. i've had people scream at me over it.

not english speaking related, but a common thinhg out here is people will ask if you have something, by phrasing it, "you don't have ________?" when i worked at a big corporate retail store, people would come up all the time and say,

"you don't have anymore of ________ that's on sale."

"we don't? ok, i'll let my supervisor know", i reply.

"no, i'm asking if you have any more ________,"

"oh, i thought you said we don't have it."

(huge sigh like a child that is told to go clean their room or do homework)

"do you have anymore of ________ that's on sale?"

"hold on a second and i'll ask my supervisor"
