Artie my fish died

I've had a Betta Fish named Artie on my desk at work for a little over 3 years and he died yesterday. He wasnt looking to good for the last few days and I bought the 'Bettafix' stuff that the petstore recomended, but it didnt work.

I did some research online and found out what was wrong with him based on how he looked. Its actually a condition called 'dropsy'. Its caused by some sort of internal infection/virus or can be caused my cancerous tumors. It basicly stops kidney function so the fish swells up and the scales start to poke out. It says that its hard to diagnose until the swelling starts and once the swelling starts there really isnt anything that can help and the fish has 5-10 days to live. So at least I know there wasnt anything I could do.

He died yesterday around 3:00 in the afternoon. It was about time for me to leave so I left him in the tank and covered it with a big rag and planned on dealing with it this morning. I know its silly, but I'm pretty bummed.

Anyway.... I had him so long that he became the unoficial mascot of the union and this morning when I came in some of the 3rd shift had built a coffin. The maintence guy is going to dig a hole behind the building and bury it later today.

Heres some pictures so far... probably more to come....

Artie in his prime....

a viking funeral would be cool....douse the coffin in gas, light it and send him sailing back to the ocean he came from..

The mysterious dropsy. I have a 55 gallon tank and lose fish to it on occasion. Nothing you can do.

sorry about your loss, Honus... always sucks big time to lose a loved pet, I had a bunny who died on father's day (that day sucked big time, maybe it will sound "emo", but fuck it, I don't have children yet, so the closest thing I've ever had to a son was Rito and he dying that specific day sucked a lot), still hurts when I remember how he used to run around the house and climb from my belly to my chest to sniff my face, everytime I remember the look in his little eyes, I get sad... btw, nice coffin, man, and I agree with Shootingscars, a viking funeral would be really great for him, that whole flushing pets down the drain is really disrespectful for a pet...

Losing pets really sucks. I know my favorite cat ever "Luda" Seen in the picture of me to the left, will not outlive me. Something I really don't want to think of.

for all the issues you seem to have had at work, it's pretty great that people there did this.

Yeah, the few people that I am friendly with are good people and good 'work friends'. Its just the job that sucks.

Every summer they have kids of employees come in as 'summer help'. Basicly temp workers. Anyway... one of the people Im friendly with has a sister that is working here for the summer. She had a Betta fish that an X-Boyfriend gave her and she had been trying to get ride of him for a while. I talked to her the other day and she brought in the fish (and accesories) today.

So with no further ado.... here is Linus....

The lobster I keep on my dashboards name is Linus.
It's a good name, so I'm sure he'll be a good fish.

bulldog would be "chubby"

dachshund would be "link sauseege"

i am 6 years old.

dachshunds are cool dogs.
a friend of mine has one named Bugsy.
Always wanted a Bulldog.
I hardly ever see them anymore. I see plenty of Pitbulls but not a proper Bulldog.
Can't have one where I live, or any dog for that matter, so a cat it is.
But the cat acts like a dog so whatever then right?
