Desmond Dekker, some of Judge Dredd's stuff, and most definately the Trojan label's output.

This man knows his shit, that's a great start for anyone looking for good stuff. Also, as BadVibes said, the Trojan box sets are awesome. Back home at one record store they had a shelf with about twenty different Trojan box sets and that wasn't even all of 'em.

I saw the PIETASTERS w/ MURPHYS LAW a few months back. I even tlaked to the drummer for a bit. I had never heard of them or anything and the guy was cool and we had a beer and bullshitted about music and watched some opening shitty band. THat was it. I watched them for about 15 minutes then i had to jet. They were cool. Jimmy Gestapo seemed to really like them. NOt exactly my thing but they were not bad.

Jimmy is one of the best frontmen ever.

Ska band worth checking out is Johnny Too Bad & The Strikeouts.

I was gonna say that Dave and Brian are huge collectors and historians of Ska musics "checkered" past. If any of you need good recomendations these are the dudes to talk to for sure.
