i'm sure they will.
remember, steve doesn't necessarily need to do it first, just best.
they probably have to have models in r&d and are waiting to see if the market matures.
traditional touchscren laptops aren't big sellers, but devices with multitouch (ala the giant iphone) will likely be a more attractive product.
there have been rumors of a 'large ipod touch' like device for about a year.
maybe that'll be their answer to the netbook.

I have played with it and for graphics it'll be great, no need for a wacom tablet
but I'll wait for them to get all the bugs worked out in a few years and for the price to drop a little...
