It was bound to happen. They were trying to build a company around fucking Kimbo Slice. That right there says they don't know shit about MMA.

I would have disagreed right up until "Standup-gate". Even after all the bullshit judging and Kimbo hype, I was OK with the company since they were
also giving away some good MMA fights and doing it in the public's eye (on Showtime and CBS, along with streaming some ICON events online for free).
But that was definitely the final nail in the coffin.

look, they were fixin fights
bottom line
tank did everything but admitt he was paid to be knocked out
and thompson said the same type of thing about getting paid to stand with kimbo
i dont think any of this is kimbos fault
he is a brand new fighter and is the first to say he has alot to learn
all eyes were on him cuz he had a name even before his first fight
mma dorks were all saying "he needs to fight a real challenge to prove himself....blah blah"
he has only had 4 fights!
no one is expected to fight top guys so quickly
look what happened with lesner
mir schooled him and im afraid to think of what randy is gonna do to him
dana put him too high too quick
you come at the king....you best not miss

Yes. Pretty sure it's next month. Silva-Cote this weekend. Couture-Lesnar next month. And a good end of the year card with Nog-Mir, Rampage-Wandy
III, and another big fight I'm forgetting. Edit: It's Griffen-Evans for the LHW title.

I never heard about that with Tank or Thompson. Tank's performance against Kimbo wasn't much different from his other fights in recent years (i.e.
he'll gas 30 seconds in and then lose). Thompson flat out won that fight. I'm still not convinced that EliteXC had any control over the refs,
regardless of how bad those calls were. My bet is still that the athletic commission (was it the NJSAC?) didn't want MMA to look too barbaric on CBS,
so they had fights called sooner than they should've been. It was straight up bullshit, but I think it was NJSAC and not EliteXC.
As for Lesnar, he's in those fights because of (i) his name, (ii) the lack of talent in the heavyweight division), and (iii) the fact that he has the
amateur wrestling cred to be there. He shouldn't be at the top so soon, but he definitely showed that he's a legit heavyweight when he fought
Herring. Should he be fighting Randy for the title? Absolutely not. But I don't think it's unreasonable to say that he should be fighting Werdum
for a #1 contender slot (after Nog-Mir winner gets Randy)... or maybe Lesnar-Kongo and winner gets Werdum. It's a division that needs a hell of a lot
of talent at this point, and Lesnar's filling a gap.

Elite XC had some good fights. Kimbo wasn't involved in any of them. I'm kinda sad to see them go because it hurts the fighters. There's one less
company to fight for so more fighters are vying for fewer fights. The law of supply and demand... fighters could get paid less especially in the
short term.
Now I don't mind seeing Elite XC go because the people running the show seemed like scumbags. Unfortunately the demise of ProElite not only means the
closing up shop of Elite XC, but now it leaves other shows like King of the Cage, Cage Rage, Icon Sport and whatever other shows ProElite bought up in
limbo for lord knows how long. Who knows if all of them will survive this bankruptcy thing.
So, in the short term this isn't such a good thing for fighters. Some could go to Japan, but Dream is rumored to be having money issues and who knows
how long that will last. World Victory Road... no idea how they're doing. Anyway, having more options is just overall good for the sport.

My guess is that HDnet is going to buy EliteXC. Not to keep running shows, but for the video library to fill programming slots. I also wouldn't be
surprised if the smaller shows were allowed returned to the previous owners in some capacity so they can keep running. Cage Rage and ICON were still
running shows, and I don't think they'll disappear.
After all is said and done, I'd like to see HDnet basically help set up a regional or "farm team"-type system that acts as a feeder to the UFC and
maybe Affliction (if they make it beyond one more show). HDnet needs broadcasting. There's too many fighters to just disappear now. This would let
us watch fighters from their start right up to the big time. Seems like a win-win for everyone involved.
