out of that whole Seattle band era, they and Alice in Chains were the best things to come from it. I don't own any of their stuff but I dig it
alright.

Never ever ever never ever ever ever never.
Just not my cup of tea or that other band he did after this one. All is not good from this guy. He is still only about 1,000 times more musically
talented then me though.

I don't think there is a more annoying douche bag of a singer, but this band was ok. Audioslave sucks cock though.

Why do you guys hate on Cornell so bad? His voice could be grating at times, but he had some fantastic fucking range. Actually, both of his bands have
been incredibly talented. That being said, Audioslave had some good songs (2 of them, that they re-recorded about 6 times each) but were essentially
yeah dude anthems.

Nothing ever grabbed me. I'll be the first to admit that I am extremely narrow minded in the music I listen to. It has to grab me almost right off
of the bat.
His range or "style" to me sounds like a whine and is very feminine. The songs are just boring for me.
It is just not want I will enjoy. I'm sure he has more talent then I ever will. I just don't enjoy his music at all.

You should check out some of his other vocal stuff. Dude's one of the best screamers out there. "Rusty Cage" for instance.

I hate on him because I thought his bands have sucked musically, and his voice is annoying as all hell.

You might not be into the music, thus think the bands sucked, which is fine, but to say they musically sucked is just inaccurate.

Aside from me wanting to say that Discipline's comment is fucking hilarious, I can only say the following... are you really asking - on a hardcore
message board - why people dislike a band given their amazing talent? Since when did hardcore have anything to do with talent??? And I don't mean
that in a negative way... some [many] things are more important to me than vocal range, proper tuning, and the ability to read sheet music.

Fair enough. But, since this board discusses a pretty broad range of topics, both non musical and non hc musical, I don't think it's that much of a
stretch. Most people I know listen to more than just hc and punk.
And I don't see anything wrong with discussing a band's talent, when we're talking about a band outside of hardcore.

Cornell is one of those dudes that would try and snake you for all you got. He plays the role of a innocent person, but would probably stab you in
the back. One of those shit head stoners that would steal your wallet and then ask to be your friend to see if you have more money at home. He would
steal your weed and then try and resell it to you.

That being said SUPERUNKNOWN and BADMOTORFINGER are pretty good. I guess he sold be the weed on those 2 records, but the rest suck.
On a side note I saw them play 2 times. Once opening for DANZIG and freaking CORROSION OF CONFORMITY was the first band to play. COC played first.
That was fall of 1990 or spring of 1991 I forget. SOUNDGARDEN sucked live very bad. Then I saw them play in LOLLAPALOOZA and they were even worse than
before. They even left the stage early because people were throwing shit at them.

I've seen Chris Cornell's solo show twice and they were both awesome. He came out and did Spoonman, Outshined, Hunger Strike and then started going
into the Audioslave stuff and the other Soundgarden hits. It was like a damn hit parade. Every time I thought he had maxed out his catalog of hits he
broke out another one that I had forgotten about. His show along with the reunited Alice in Chains (with the new singer) and Eddie Vedder solo are the
best rock shows I've seen in this decade for sure. So I guess I'm a sucker for all things Seattle.
His last solo album is really great too. I'm kind of terrified about this upcoming one that he just recorded with Timbaland or whatever his name is.
The song "Ritual" from the Singles soundtrack is one of my favorite Soundgarden tunes.
Oh.... and I saw them open for Guns N' Roses in December 1991 when no one knew who they were. I couldn't deal with his voice that night but nowadays I
like what he does. I know A LOT of people that hate his voice.

The old singer died but his drug addictions prevented the band from touring for many years. The way I see AIC, it's always been Jerry Cantrell's band
since he writes all the songs and sings lead on about half the material. I see it as his right to replace Layne Staley and carry on. He did the solo
thing for a while out of respect to the other guy but unless he pulls a Lazarus, they ain't getting back together. haha
The new guy is like this 6 foot tall black man. So needless to say he isn't just some lookalike/soundalike that is out there trying to play a role. He
does his own show and he has won the crowd over each time on his own merit. I think I've seen them 4 times now and this guy just keeps getting better
and better. He sorta sounds like Layne Staley but not in a rip off way. He hits the notes. He also plays the guitar on some songs which is something
they were lacking before.
Here are a couple of links to videos of him playing with them:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GO8bI5lK0lY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSIkYHq6N-c
They're recording a new record now. Their MySpace page has weekly video updates.
