A piece of me, and a question for those who played shows.

Its 10:52am as I start this post. Stuck On High is playing a show tonight in some dive biker bar... I'm stoked. I feel the momentum building in my stomach. The excitement. The anticipation. Slight nervousness. I've been the drummer on stage and it is fun but completely different than being the vocalist. Totally different world. You're the asshole with a microphone, screaming for however many people, and you have to keep them entertained. If you dont, you and your band fail. If you do, you are loved and appreciated for a job well done. It all comes down to you. If you have a mishap on stage, you better be quick witted and maintain a clear head. If not, you and your band fail.

I'm definitely much happier being the frontman. I like being that asshole with the microphone. The pressure. I get very anxious before I go on stage. I know my hunger is real from that neusea feeling in my stomach at shows. I love it. But to keep my cool I meditate (for lack of a better word) before I go on. I try to sit by myself, take deep breaths, and relax as much as possible. I want the energy I feel on stage to be only from the crowd and how I feel in that moment. Not something thats been building all day. I love doing this shit and I am blessed my health and throat have held out long enough that I can still do it. Heres to another night on stage...!

Question for those on here who play shows, how do you feel the day of and right before a show?

The day of is usually too busy to think about it, the day before I've gotten the butterflies before. remember, if you don't walk off stage and puke, you haven't done your job!

Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?

I used to get really nervous and stressed out. I always wanted to be the most pro band possible with no mistakes but also kick out as raw a show as possible.

I played a gig last week that Brian and Dave showed up to and I felt really out of place compared to the punk rock cover set I did last month. The moral of this story is to play punk rock cover tunes instead of acoustic shows.

I could never be the frontman of a band. I hate being the center of attention and I wouldn't be able to deal with a crowd, large or small, staring at me.
