Attn NYC/Brooklyn Thorp Board Friends - please read

This is the first time I have ever done something like this and it isn't easy.

My shop, The Brooklyn Monster Factory, has been open since April 2006 and is in danger of closing down come January 09.

Please read and if you can help, thank you!

Michael Scondotto

Hello,
First of all we would like to thank all of those reading this that shop @ and support our store. We appreciate it very much and we are glad to bring you your comics each week.
That being said, however, the BMF is in some bad shape and has been for some time.

Our lease is up at the end of January '09 and as of now, it is pretty doubtful that we will be able to renew it.

Hard times have hit the USA indeed and if someone needs to cut back on something, comic books, toys, t-shirts and DVDs are probably the first thing to go.

We would absolutely hate to close the store we love so much, opening it has been a dream come true for my brother and I and we have put a lot of work into it.
So please, if you can, come in and support our shop as soon as you can.

Need super hero toys? We have them. A lot of em!
Need comic book t-shirts? We have them, on sale too!
Want 15% off of your comics?
Free bags and boards?
Want to buy from people who LOVE COMIC BOOKS?

Then come on by, the sooner the better.

Thanks again and we hope to see you soon.
Sincerely,
The BMF Family

Tell me about it man!
November 2008 was the worst month in the stores history. We had a $7.00 day once, I kid you not.

Things are really depressing. It sucks to read this as I wanted to one day visit that store. I think it would be cool as fuck to meet you guys. Hopefully things turn around and you can keep this store going. I imagine that once the economy turns around your store would kick major ass. Unfortunately words can't make it happen.

Best of luck my friend.

Hey guys.
The store is me and my brother and my bros gf, that is it.
And, me and my brother have full time jobs on top of the store.
So we dont have the time or resources for an online store. But I may do an ebay page very very soon...

Anyway, if you want to support and dont live in Brooklyn, (some have asked) we have a paypal account: Inh722@yahoo.com

I will keep you posted.

Thanks!
m.

First, a heartfelt thank you for to all of our supporters who have been blasting the web this week in an effort to help keep the business alive in 2009. We need to clarify a few things to avoid any confusion:

-The store is not soliciting money donations under any circumstances. We are trying to increase business during a very rough time for all store owners as well as our patrons. These are really tough times, so we know our problems our not unique in any way.

-The store is not 100% closing! We have not committed either way to renewing or not renewing our lease which expires at the end of January 2009. These are difficult choices that we will make early in the new year based on existing business.

-To all our out of state supporters who want to order online items, we encourage you to call us during business hours and any items you want to purchase, you can via credit card and we will ship it to you. You can inquire about items we have and we can answer any questions you have regarding merchandise. Email us and we will email you back lists of our inventory. Shipping costs vary pending on what you want to order and where you live.

-We will continue to get new books through out December and January guaranteed, no matter what!

-If you were a comic club member and you have flaked out on us and left us without telling us that you didn't plan on ever again picking up your books, make no mistake about it-YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM! Our reserve customers almost always come in every week or every other week and get their discounted books with no problems at all. But we have been hit by once steady customers whose books we ordered well in advance just disappearing from sight for months at a time until we finally figure out that they will not return, leaving us with a ton of lost revenue. For a small store, this can be a death sentence...

If anyone has any questions about the shop, please call us at 718 840 5840 or email us at Brooklynmonsterfactory@yahoo.com

Thank you all.

Sorry hard times are hittin' you guys, your store sounds like just the kinda place I would be in on a regular basis if it was around here (or if I lived there). Wish I could help out now by buying through email or over the phone right now, but hopefully after the holidays are over I can do something about that. Best of luck to you though.
