Detroit inmates don't want to be released
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28327490/
| Quote: | One measure of how tough times are in the Motor City: Some of the offenders in jail don't want to be released; some who do get out promptly re-offend
to head back where there's heat, health care and three meals a day.
"For the first time, I'm seeing guys make a conscious decision they'll be better off in prison than in the community, homeless and hungry," said
Joseph Williams of New Creations Community Outreach, which assists ex-offenders. "In prison they've got three hots and a cot, so they commit a crime
to go back in and come out when times are better." |

Hasn't this been happening for decades around the world? Career criminals who basically do crimes to go back to jail where they don't have to worry
about outside life or pressures etc?
You get trained to live in prison and know what to expect, for some it's easier than struggling through life.
A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s
a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal
favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

So it brings up the question of release them to commit more crimes, or just keep them in there like they want so no new crimes happen by them...
Shows you how "hard" prison must be, how much of a "punishment" it is. My brother is in and out all the time, we call it his summer home.

I've been to jail and that shit sucked. Don't want to even imagine what prison would be like. Especially out here in California, we are lucky to
have the worst prison system in the country and the race wars ain't making it no better either.

i know a bunch of dudes that have done some time, jail and prison, and they all were ready to leave ASAP.
did a lil' jail stint a long time ago.
the first 3 days sucked real bad and then i adapted.
had some good times and met some cool dudes.
when i was done, i was ready to go back out for sure, but part of me was bummed that i wouldn't be seeing certain people every day.
never met one dude who wasn't waiting for the day he got out, no matter how long they had to do.
never met anyone who wouldn't leave the next day if they could.
never been back.

One of my closest friends is going away few years. Dude was on probation, which stipulated if he completed certain steps he wouldn't be charged with
the felony rap he caught last year. Motherfucker OD'ed just a few days ago, but luckily he was brought back to life. Now those felonies are going to
kick in and he is fucked. Only had a few more weeks left...ain't a real tough guy either...fuck man
