I can only semi comprehend that guy spending that money by thinking that maybe he was so used to living a certain way and having certain things that it's tough to let go of. I can't imagine needing and $87,000 area rug or $28,000 curtains in my office, but my "office" is really a server room with no windows and the constant humming of the server making my ears ring. So maybe he was just so comfortable in his lifestyle that he didn't know what he could cut back on in order to live a bit more on the frugal side, or he's just a spoiled, entitled rich bastard who doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself.

you hear that from time to time...
"oh, they're accustomed to that lifestyle so they don't know what they're doing."
bullshit.
if you think it's ok to spend 87g on a rug, you're either trying too hard to distance yourself from reality or you've lost your fucking mind.

lemme amend that...
i don't have a problem if people wanna spend their own money on wildly expensive shit.
you earned, enjoy it.

but to blow a company's money like that when you know the business is failing and thousands of people are at risk of loosing their jobs.., then you're just being an arrogant, selfish prick.

let's keep in mind, this was the guy who was asking for a $10M bonus.

He should be forced to pay that money back out of his own pocket.

I'm not giving this guy a pass at all. I mean, in addition to buying that shit for his office he asked for a $10 million bonus? The guy was obviously out of touch with reality. I'm sure I'll never make $10 million in my lifetime, and I won't know what it's like to even be able to ask for that from someone. It's gotta feel pretty good to think that you can ask for it and not get laughed at. That's gotta go to your head at some point. I can only guess that the dude knew the ship was sinking and was just trying to squeeze what he could out of it before it went down. Fucking scumbag.
