just wondering something. did your time in iraq change your opinion on the people there? or the place in general? policies? or was it what you
expected before you went? either way i'm really glad you're back with your family and safe.

Thanks man, I appreciate that. yes time there changed the way I thought about alot of things. I actually devoted a good amount of time there getting
the place ready for the Provincal elecetions that just took place, so it's nice to see it went off without a hitch for the most part. I am glad
president Obama is our President and I am glad he is doing what he is doing in regards to Iraq. It is time to move on for sure. I also feel that we
did succeed there given the possible outcomes and the outcome we are facing. Not one of my brothers or sisters in uniform died in vain, that is my
honest opinion. If you guys want to know specifics, just ask, I am completely alright with talking about all of it.

thanks for the honest response. was there alot of hostility from the locals? i imagine it really varied from person to person?

There was actually a very small percentage of the population that was hostile during my tour. But the small percentage was good at what they did and
maximized the affects. The worst were the foreign nationals waging jihad in the name of whichever whackjob group they represented. route clearance and
convoy was still the most vulnerable to attack as everyone knows roadside bombs (ied) were the main method of attack. Complex ambushes were out of the
question because the US military is well known for it's violence of action, come at us with something like that we simply hit back harder and for
keeps. Some of the worst was the IDF (indirect fire). They would build launch tubes on the backs of small trucks, get to a vantage point for launch
and fire rocket and mortar attacks into our bases. These would go anywhere and hit anything, no intended target. Sometimes they would get real close
to our living quarters at night while already bedded down. It got to the point where we just stopped evacing to the bunkers. We figured it happend so
much that if it was our time, it was our time. I was VERY fortunate as I did not really experience anything remotely traumatic. i wish I could say the
same for everyone over there.

it's really no secret that our politics aren't the same. we've established that in the past. that however in no way means i don't feel for the people
putting their lives on the line on a daily basis and their families back home. like i said, i'm really fucking happy you made it back safe and can go
on being the good father i know you are. i really appreciate you taking the time to tell me a little about your experience there.

THAT is the absolute beauty of being able to call ourselves free men brother. We can agree to disagree and do not have to worry about repercussions
for it. Thanks again big guy
