Wow never thought they'd be gone especially Maniacs. Another Publisher should pick them up.
Check out this thread, includes comments from a Metal Edge writer.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s
a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal
favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

I think it was Metal Maniacs that had a picture of my old old band in it around 1992. I think I have the issue at home somewhere.

the evolution of life. Its weird. Not a big fan of the mag but I was in the younger years. I bough tthose mags around 85 till 88 then punk and skating
took over.
Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

Maniacs was good, Edge was for all the lamers that are into nu-metal and/or hair bands.
Still, I'd rather read Metal Hammer if I was to read a metal mag, though I haven't done that in years. I just don't care about the music industry at
all really anymore.
I barely even listen to anything anymore.

It's a dying industry. You'll see more close down before too long.

BW&BK stopped doing the Knuckle Tracks last year I have about 40 of the free
comps they put in the magazines, that was the best part of getting them.

Metal Edge was still around?
I used to shoplift that from Clover for this girl on my block as a pre teen
Maniacs was the best back in high school.
Only the book store in the bazaar with the special porn room had it all the time.
i heard of life of agony and alot of good bands from it....
