taking the plunge
I'm diving headfirst into adulthood. Mrs. Moron and I are buying our first home. I'm pretty nervous. All of that money we saved is gonna be gone in
an instant. It's such an uneasy feeling.

Yeah. The closing costs are worrying me. I guess it's the whole not knowing exactly how much they'll be yet. Once we know that we'll be cool.
Hopefully we'll have enough money, because we also have to pay a penalty in order to break our lease where we are now. We'll pretty much be broke for
a few months. I'm excited too though I'm not looking forward to packing all of our shit up again.

Thats great news man. And right now you should be able to get a great deal. Sure its scary, but believe me, it will feel so good the first time you
walk in when you finally own it. You'll hump like mad in every room.
Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

yeah, that is a big check to write, but once you get in the swing of your monthly payments, you won't even think of it.
try not to blow EVERY dime on the down payment and closing costs - you'll want to have a couple bucks to fix things up or buy new stuff once you move
in.
anyway, congratulations, homie, I'm excited for you both.
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

Thanks everyone.
I'm holding off filing my taxes until the closing date because of this. I started doing my taxes on Sunday and for some reason we OWE almost $3000.
Somehow our jobs aren't taking out enough taxes. It wouldn't be such a big deal if we weren't buying a house! With that tax credit though we'll
actually get money back, and we'll put that to good use buying shit for the house.

would that tax credit go for next years taxes?
since your buying your house in 09, would it go towards your 09 taxes not your 08?

yeah my guess is it would be on 09 taxes since people have already started doing them and he isn't signing until today
and with the date lasting till dec that is a good indicator for next year as well

"First-time buyers can claim a credit worth $8,000 - or 10% of the home's value, whichever is less - on their 2008 or 2009 taxes."
straight from the article defstar linked. It also says that if you already filed your taxes you can file an amended returns to get the credit.
