that gun has actually been around for many years. The guys in the video don't look like navy, they look like red necks. I saw a show on this thing
years ago and want to say that it was privately built.
I may be wrong though.

Those guys are DoD engineers, that is all there really is in Dahlgren. The command I just transferred from was directly attached to these guys ( I
even kinda know the guy that put the tube around the projectile before it was inserted into the weapon). This is the real deal. Yes the weapon has
been around for quite awhile in development phase but has just recently begun it's testing phase. They are looking at the next generation of combat
ship to be outfitted with these as opposed to the 5 inch we have now. By the by I have just checked into my new ship and am loving it! For any
interested google the USS Nassau LHA 4 and check her out. Thats my new ride.

I know! This will revolutionize the way we conduct Naval Gunfire Support to soften amphibeous landing points prior to US Marine Corps insertions. We
will be able to do things like overwatch guard on a Carrier during it's flight operations and simultaneous NGFS (gunfore support). It's all about
multitasking to get the job done quicker and more efficiently while focusing on the avoidance of casualties. Cool stuff
